Natera is an American diagnostics company founded in 2004 that built its business on cell-free DNA testing, analysing fragments of DNA circulating in blood to answer questions that previously required an invasive procedure. Its products span prenatal screening, carrier testing, organ transplant rejection monitoring and oncology, where its Signatera test detects residual cancer DNA after treatment and can indicate recurrence months before imaging would. Headquartered in Austin and listed on Nasdaq, its economics depend heavily on payer reimbursement decisions, which have historically been the difference between a test being widely used or barely used at all.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Join Natera’s R&D operations as the Supervisor for R&D Sample Management. You will direct biobanking, cold chain logistics, and the daily sample management operations supporting clinical diagnostics and clinical trials. Every sample represents a real person, and you will partner directly with cross-functional teams to execute sample processing and logistics with rigorous precision.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the daily staffing, scheduling, and operational setup for the Sample Management team
  • Take ownership as the primary operational lead for clinical study and trial sample management, using data to resolve logistical inquiries and drive outcomes
  • Coordinate incoming and outgoing compound shipments with Contract Research Organizations (CROs), partners, and collaborators
  • Manage the receipt, registration, storage, and inventory of samples for R&D and clinical trials, fulfilling interdepartmental requests
  • Maintain precise sample records in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and reconcile inventory periodically using data
  • Take ownership of training for the Sample Management team, rigorously monitoring the progress of new hires to ensure execution readiness
  • Ensure accurate, ethical, and appropriate management of samples in strict compliance with all applicable federal regulations
  • Monitor team members to ensure precise adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and lab safety procedures
  • Handle protected health information (PHI) in paper and electronic formats as required to perform duties
  • Complete required HIPAA/PHI privacy, compliance, and security training within the first 30 days of hire

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, in a scientific discipline
  • At least 4 years of hands-on laboratory experience in an industry setting
  • Experience working in clinical study or trial sample management is a plus

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of GxP and ICH requirements and best practices
  • Think team by partnering directly with cross-functional clinical study teams to drive sample management execution without needing translation layers
  • Basic knowledge of LIMS and database query tools, with Microsoft Excel and SQL experience preferred
  • Ability to think analytically, testing assumptions with data to troubleshoot and solve complex logistical problems
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships within the functional area
  • Manage competing priorities while operating with pace and precision in an evolving scientific environment
