We are looking for a hands-on Lead Infrastructure and DevOps Engineer to take primary ownership of Natoe AI's production infrastructure. Our production environment runs primarily on U. S. -hosted leased dedicated servers rather than a managed public-cloud stack, so we are looking for someone who has personally operated, maintained, and troubleshot self-managed production environments.
This is a technical leadership / individual contributor role, not a people-management position. You will work closely with the CTO, engineering team, hosting providers, and compliance partners across infrastructure operations, networking, storage, deployments, monitoring, security, and disaster recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and troubleshoot Linux-based dedicated server infrastructure.
- Handle server provisioning, hardening, patching, upgrades, and performance optimization.
- Manage networking, including firewalls, VPNs, DNS, certificates, reverse proxies, and secure administrative access.
- Operate infrastructure supporting high-volume medical imaging and DICOM data.
- Manage storage capacity, performance, data integrity, archiving, and migrations.
- Build and maintain reliable backup and disaster-recovery processes.
- Conduct and validate restoration and recovery exercises.
- Monitor infrastructure health, image-transfer failures, processing backlogs, and service availability.
- Lead infrastructure incident response and root-cause analysis.
- Build deployment automation, repeatable server configurations, and safe rollback processes.
- Implement production security controls, including MFA, encryption, secrets management, logging, and vulnerability remediation.
- Support infrastructure requirements related to HIPAA, SOC 2, and security audits.
- Use AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent tools to automate infrastructure tasks.
- Automate recurring operational work using Bash/Python, scripts, and configuration-management tools.
- Maintain architecture documentation, runbooks, asset inventories, and operational procedures.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in infrastructure engineering, systems administration, DevOps, or a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience managing dedicated servers, bare metal, or comparable self-managed production infrastructure.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong understanding of networking, firewalls, filesystems, and storage.
- Experience supporting databases and containerized applications in production.
- Experience managing substantial file/object-storage workloads.
- Hands-on experience with backup restoration and disaster-recovery exercises.
- Scripting experience with Bash and/or Python.
- Experience with version control, CI/CD, and configuration automation such as Ansible or equivalent tools.
- Hands-on experience with Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI coding assistants for infrastructure scripting or automation.
- Experience implementing production security controls and supporting audits/security assessments.
- Strong incident-management judgment and clear communication skills.
- Important: Experience limited primarily to managed public-cloud services such as AWS/Azure/GCP without hands-on self-managed infrastructure ownership will not be sufficient for this role.
- Preferred Experience: Experience in any of the following would be an advantage: Healthcare infrastructure, DICOM / PACS environments, Large medical-imaging archives, HIPAA-related infrastructure controls, SOC 2 audits, U. S. healthcare customers, Other secure, regulated, or data-intensive production environments.
