Taylors College Sydney is part of Navitas’ University Partnerships Australasia division. In collaboration with the University of Sydney, we offer the University of Sydney Foundation Program (USFP), which helps international students develop the knowledge, academic skills, and confidence required for undergraduate study.

This opportunity is available within our Business Faculty, which provides face-to-face teaching to international students at the foundation level. Our Business & Economic Principles (BEP) module integrates Economics and Accounting, connecting both disciplines through practical business applications. We are seeking casual teachers with the subject knowledge and teaching skills to teach both areas.

We are looking for casual Business teachers with expertise in both Economics and Accounting to join the Business Faculty at Taylors College Sydney. You will be responsible for teaching Business & Economic Principles (BEP), an integrated module that combines Economics and Accounting concepts with practical business applications. Classes are conducted face-to-face for international students at the foundation level as part of the University of Sydney Foundation Program.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons that clarify and simplify business concepts.
• Adapting your teaching methods to accommodate students’ academic backgrounds, English language proficiency, and individual learning needs.
• Assessing student work and providing constructive feedback while actively participating in marking moderation.
• Monitoring student engagement and progress, and offering timely academic support as needed.
• Utilizing learning technologies and contributing to the development and evaluation of the curriculum.
• Collaborating with colleagues to uphold academic integrity, maintain consistent teaching standards, and ensure accurate student records.
• Ensuring that teaching and assessment practices align with College policies, the ESOS framework, the National Code, and the standards of the Foundation Program.

• A postgraduate degree, preferably a master’s degree, in Economics, Accounting, Commerce, Business or a closely related discipline.

• Qualification in teaching (Graduate Diploma etc.)

• Working with children check undertaken prior to appointment

• Current first aid certificate or willingness and ability to achieve this (for laboratory specific courses)

• Expertise in curriculum design and the use of learning technologies

• Experience in working with international students and partner organizations

Knowledge/Skills

• Minimum of 2 - 5years teaching experience

• Experience of teaching international students

• Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary environment

• Experience of working with a learning management system A clear understanding of the ESOS act and National Code as well as the Foundation Standards.

• Knowledge of how to communicate with second language speakers

• Knowledge of how to diagnose students struggling academically

• Knowledge of current best practice teaching and learning methodologies

• Work independently and collaboratively as an effective team member

• Ability to perform under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines

• Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate with a wide audience (young people, professional leadership team, peers)

• Strong ICT skills

• Proven ability to make sound judgements

• Proven ability to follow procedures with attention to detail

• Ability to be a self-starter and work on own initiative

• Ability to support and motivate others

• Ability to operate as part of a small, dynamic team and support the wider work of the college collaboratively

• Ability to work flexibly

• Approachable and able to work with young adults in a non-judgmental manner

• Ability to establish and maintain supportive relationships with staff that facilitate open communication and mutual respect

• Ability to distinguish between the need for confidentiality and the need to inform relevant people
