Many successful nbn Field Technicians began their careers in other industries. Experience may come from trades, construction, utilities, defence, transport, customer service, maintenance, security, technology or other operational environments.
The role is suited to individuals who enjoy hands onpractical problem solving, working outdoors, learning new skills and delivering great customer experiences.
The details at a glance
Hours: Shifts operate between 7:00am and 7:00pm, typically around 8 hours per day
Location: Opportunities available nationally
Flexibility: Shift variations may be considered based on business and individual circumstances
Training and equipment: Fully provided by nbn
Requirements: Australian working rights and a current unrestricted driver's license

About the role
nbn Field Technicians visit homes and businesses to install, connect, maintain and repair telecommunications infrastructure, helping Australians stay connected to the people, services and opportunities that matter most.
Working independently while supported by experienced leaders and peers, technicians play a critical role in maintaining one of Australia's most important pieces of national infrastructure.

Confidence working independently and outdoors
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Experience working with tools, equipment, technical systems or operational processes
Telecommunications experience is not essential. nbn values capability, potential and transferable skills.

Paid Training and Development
Successful applicants undertake eight weeks of structured, paid training before transitioning into field-based work.
The program combines technical learning, practical experience and capability assessments designed to prepare technicians for success in the field. Ongoing development opportunities continue throughout a technician's career at nbn.
