The Team

XD Design Engineering is a small team of engineers with a big mandate: to develop, maintain, and innovate the Design Platform central to Netflix’s product development lifecycle. Our goal is to improve product development velocity without compromising on fidelityand to increase efficiency of the design/engineering handoff. Our portfolio includes API services, web apps, and Figma Plugins, serving a diverse range of cross-functional partners, from product designers and project managers to software engineers.

The Role

In this high-impact role, you’ll work on a portfolio of productivity tools and automations designed to accelerate the product design lifecycle at Netflix. You’ll collaborate closely with system designers and engineers, to drive innovation around the distribution and adoption of the Design System. You'll lead and champion projects and effectively communicate their impact to partner teams. You will also gather input from stakeholders, identifying opportunities to help set a long-term technical strategy that continuously evolves the design tooling portfolio to ensure it remains best-in-class.

Responsibilities

• Contributing, maintaining, and expanding criticaldesign component libraries and capabilities supporting hundreds of internal users (React)

• Implementing AI solutions,when appropriate,that measurably accelerateproduct design workflows

• Be the engineering leadon projects, working from ideation to implementation to rollout

• Conducting internal user-researchto gather insights to inform prioritizationand feature development

• Completing medium to large features independentlywithout guidance

• Be the primary point of contactfor support requestsrelated to the Design System portfolio

• Work with designers and engineers across other teams to maintainthe integrity and reliabilityof the Design System portfolio.

• Participate in on-callrotationto continue to meet our critical SLAs

• Conducting design and code reviews

What We Are Looking For

• 7+ yearsof professional experience designing, building, and shipping software

• Experience with single page applicationsarchitecture, patterns, and design

• Experience fetching data from GraphQL and REST APIs

• Experience with client-side instrumentationand observability

• Proven ability to leadprojects and clearly and effectivelycommunicatewith partners

• Strong project scopingand project managementskills

• Able to design, architect, debug, test, and create well-documented code

• Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript,React, and Node.js

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $388,000.00 - $558,000.00. This compensation range will vary based on location.
