Platform Team Lead

We're looking for a Team Lead for Netlight's Platform team - the AI and developer-platform layer that every builder at Netlight relies on daily. You'll lead a team of engineers, own the reliability and evolution of that platform end to end, and give the team real space to push the developer experience work it's most excited about.

The Role

At Netlight, “Team Lead” is a defined role: you lead the team with a mix of Engineering Manager responsibilities (people health, tech health, and business impact) and Product Manager ones (problem discovery, stakeholder management, prioritization). You set direction and remove blockers day to day; goals, budget envelopes, and hiring decisions are set together with the Head of Tech, whom you’ll report directly to.

With your help, we want to:

• Turn hard-won operational know-how into documented, resilient team capability - so uptime doesn’t depend on any one person’s memory.
• Mature the team’s Builder Experience Foundation work - turning today’s developer sandbox environments across AWS, Azure, and GCP into genuinely production-grade platforms.
• Build out the AI Platform's tooling and workflows so every builder at Netlight can adopt AI-assisted development with confidence and speed.
• Establish clear standards and self-service paths for platform onboarding, so new teams and projects can build on solid infrastructure from day one.

Who you are

• Strong prioritization skills - comfortable running the role with a product mindset, balancing competing asks across the team.
• Experience building or running a platform “as a product” - self-service paths, golden paths, service catalogs - rather than just keeping infrastructure operational.
• Self-driven innovative mindset.
• A track record of advocating assertively for your team with leadership and stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills - able to translate technical trade-offs into business terms for non-technical stakeholders, and vice versa.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience leading software engineering teams.
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure and/or GCP) - enough to make informed calls and earn credibility with the team, even if you’re not hands-on daily.
• A track record of turning ambiguous, high-pressure situations into smooth, well-run operations.
• Work from a Netlight office at least 3 days per week.
• Fluent in English.
• Swedish or German is a plus.

Nice to have:

• Experience with GitLab CI/CD or similar developer infrastructure platforms.
• Working in a Developer Experience or Platform Building group/team/area.
• Direct experience with specific AI coding assistants or building custom LLM-based dev tooling.
• Familiarity with cloud cost governance / FinOps.

What you will do

You’ll lead a small but senior platform team responsible for everything from cloud landing zones to AI Tooling and surrounding builder-experience components (monitoring, CI/CD, service catalogue) - a team with real appetite to shift more energy into cloud and builder infrastructure, and your leadership is what makes that shift possible. You’ll work closely with the Head of Tech, Operations and Tech teams.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• Team leadership and development : Set direction, coach, and grow a team of engineers; build a culture where ideas and concerns surface early.
• Operational oversight: Own the day-to-day health of our cloud infrastructure and builder-experience platforms across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Maintain oversight of GitLab and CI/CD infrastructure supporting Builders. Lead the documentation and knowledge-sharing work that makes the platform resilient by design, so uptime doesn't depend on any one person's memory.
• Planning and execution: Shape the cloud infrastructure and AI Platform roadmap across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Balance stabilization work against the team's ambition to build strong builder infrastructure and sandbox environments across all three clouds, and drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tooling.
• Communication and collaboration: Represent your team’s needs and constraints upward and advocate for them directly. Work with the team before making commitments that affect their scope, capacity, or working conditions.
• Culture and engagement: Close the loop on feedback and follow through on commitments; build trust through consistency.
