Business Intelligence and Reporting Analytics Engineer

Key Responsibilities

Business Intelligence & Reporting

• Design, develop, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, scorecards, and visualisations.
• Build and maintain semantic models and reporting datasets.
• Develop KPI reporting solutions and self-service analytics capabilities.
• Optimise Power BI models, DAX calculations, and report performance.
• Develop paginated reports where required.

Analytics & Insights

• Analyse data to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and business insights.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into reporting and analytical solutions.
• Define, monitor, and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs).
• Present analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Data Engineering & Data Management

• Develop and maintain PySpark notebooks within Microsoft Fabric.
• Build reporting-ready datasets through data transformation, validation, and cleansing.
• Create scalable data models to support enterprise reporting and analytics.
• Develop and optimise complex SQL queries.
• Work with Lakehouse, Delta Lake, and enterprise data environments.

Data Governance

• Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across reporting solutions.
• Support data governance and data quality initiatives.
• Maintain documentation for datasets, reports, and business rules.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree, Diploma, or relevant certification in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence, or Data Analytics.
• Advanced experience with:
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Power BI
  • SQL
  • PySpark
  • Python
  • Azure Synapse Analytics
  • Azure Data Factory
• Proven experience developing Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Strong understanding of data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing principles.
• Experience using Git and version control tools.

Advantageous Experience

• Delta Lake and Lakehouse architectures.
• CI/CD and DataOps practices.
• Dimensional modelling (Kimball methodology).
• Financial Services or Insurance industry exposure.
• Forecasting, predictive analytics, or machine learning concepts.
