Network Plus is a UK utility and infrastructure services contractor with its joint headquarters in Worsley, Greater Manchester, designing, building and maintaining water, wastewater, gas, power and transport networks. Established in 2000, it works for major utility providers such as United Utilities and National Grid from more than 90 regional depots, and the wider Network Plus Group includes Go Traffic Management, Littlewood Group, Environmental Solutions Plus and Claret Civil Engineering. It hires site operatives, gangers, civils and reinstatement supervisors, traffic management staff, site and contract managers, estimators, quantity surveyors and office support roles.

Claret Civil Engineering Ltd is seeking experienced managers and supervisors to support and lead its clean water maintenance workstream. The role is focused on the safe and efficient delivery of planned and reactive works on storage point assets including service reservoirs, water towers, booster stations, tanks, pumping assets, storage facilities and valve chambers. You will provide visible site leadership, coordinate teams and subcontractors, maintain client communication, and ensure that works are delivered in accordance with approved documentation, water hygiene requirements and Claret standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead site teams and coordinate day-to-day clean water maintenance activities, labour, plant, materials and specialist subcontractors.
  • Plan and brief work using approved risk assessments, method statements, permits and task-specific controls.
  • Maintain strong controls for water hygiene, confined-space interfaces, excavation, temporary works and safe access where applicable to the task. Reinforce a strong, clean water culture.
  • Carry out site inspections, briefings, toolbox talks and assurance checks, and address hazards, defects, near misses and non-conformances promptly.
  • Ensure records such as site diaries, photographs, permits, job sheets, asset information and handover documentation are accurate and complete.
  • Coordinate with clients, site representatives and Claret management, providing clear progress updates and escalating delivery risks when required.
  • Monitor workmanship, environmental controls and reinstatement to achieve a professional handover standard.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership and ensure Claret procedures, client requirements and site rules are consistently followed.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential requirements

  • Proven supervisory or management experience within clean water, utilities, civil engineering, construction or infrastructure maintenance.
  • Ability to lead operatives safely, plan work and communicate clear expectations through briefings and site coordination.
  • Good understanding of risk assessment, method statements, permit systems, quality records and site documentation.
  • Strong commitment to water hygiene, health and safety, quality and environmental standards.
  • Confident client-facing communication and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between work locations and stay away where required.

Desirable qualifications and experience

  • EUSR National Water Hygiene (Blue Card).
  • CSCS card.
  • SSSTS or SMSTS, or an equivalent relevant supervisory/management qualification.
  • NEBOSH or IOSH qualification in health and safety.
  • Confined Spaces training (Medium risk, City & Guilds minimum).
  • Temporary works awareness/co-ordination experience, First Aid, CAT and Genny, lifting or plant competence as relevant.
  • Experience of service reservoirs, water towers, booster stations, tanks, valve chambers or comparable clean water infrastructure.
  • Experience working on water company frameworks or regulated utility sites.

About you

You will be a practical and visible leader who sets standards rather than simply monitoring them. You will be organised, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of safe delivery, workforce coordination, documentation and client communication.
