KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute Electrical, Control and Instrumentation (ECI) engineering activities throughout project lifecycles.
• Develop electrical and instrumentation designs, specifications and engineering documentation.
• Prepare and review:
  • Single-line diagrams
  • Schematics
  • Cable schedules
  • Instrument indexes
  • I/O lists
  • Instrument data sheets
  • Equipment specifications
  • Control philosophies
• Perform electrical load calculations, cable sizing and equipment selection.
• Develop and review instrumentation and control system designs.
• Specify and select electrical, instrumentation and control equipment.
• Liaise with mechanical, process, piping, civil and other engineering disciplines.
• Provide technical input during design reviews and project meetings.
• Assist with procurement, vendor document reviews and technical evaluations.
• Conduct technical inspections and provide engineering support during construction and commissioning.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning and troubleshooting activities where required.
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable standards, client specifications and project requirements.
• Participate in site surveys and project implementation activities.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations and engineering documentation.
• Provide technical support to clients and project teams.

REQUIREMENTS

• BEng / BSc / BTech in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' relevant ECI engineering experience within an engineering consultancy, EPC/EPCM environment or industrial organisation.
• Experience working on industrial, mining, manufacturing, energy, water, chemical or process plant projects.
• Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles and industrial instrumentation.
• Experience with electrical and instrumentation design and documentation.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings and control system documentation.
• Knowledge of applicable electrical and instrumentation standards.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong technical report-writing and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in relevant engineering software and design tools.
• Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites when required.

ADVANTAGEOUS EXPERIENCE

• Experience with PLC, SCADA and DCS systems.
• Experience with ETAP, EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical or similar engineering software.
• Experience with industrial communication networks.
• Knowledge of VSDs, MCCs, motor control and protection systems.
• Experience with instrumentation including pressure, flow, temperature and level measurement.
• Experience with hazardous-area installations.
• Exposure to IEC, SANS, ISA and other relevant engineering standards.
