POSITION SUMMARY

As an Electrical Engineer or Designer - Electrical Diagnostic Enhancement, you will be working as a team member within a brand-new Engineering Services team that will be that will be focused on improving our overall vehicle diagnostics with the goal of enhancing our ability to troubleshoot vehicle issues effectively and independently across platforms in a timely manner. The intent of this new team is to directly link into our current Electrical Engineering & Smart Bus Technology teams, serving as a centralized group that will assess on-going projects and new systems for overall diagnostic coverage and enhancement opportunities. Reporting to the Engineering Design Manager - Electrical Diagnostic Enhancement and working closely with other core team members, you will be accountable for engineering design releases, programming and diagnostic development projects in support of the above objectives. You will ensure the timely completion and accuracy of assigned tasks at all phases from design stage to implementation within production

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Strategize, evaluate, develop, and execute innovative diagnostic methods that will improve the tools that NFI Group employees have for understanding the nature of vehicle electrical system issues in our transit and coach vehicles
  • Monitor the prevalence of different vehicle electrical system issues across our fleets and devise solutions to mitigate those issues
  • Assess new systems, features, and components for proper diagnostic capability and address any gaps found
  • Prepare data and create reports on project status related to diagnostic capability and address any gaps found
  • Establish effective communication, cooperation, and information flow with other groups and departments
  • Provide engineering support to Production, Quality Assurance, Customer Service and others as required
  • Interact with vendors and customers on design related issues and document vendor approvals
  • Complete diagnostic testing of components and system to meet system & vendor requirements
  • Assists Designer / Draft person on tasks as required by Design Manager
  • Other duties as assigned

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • University Degree or Technical Diploma in electrical engineering or related field
  • 1 - 10 years of experience in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Strong understanding of control system algorithms and multiplexing system logic
  • Functional diagram / structured text experience preferred
  • Experience with CAN/J1939 Ethernet communication protocols preferred
  • Strong teamwork, problem solving and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite
  • Travel (less than 15%) to the US
