A wholly owned subsidiary of New York-based News Corp, it says its brands reach more than 18 million Australians a month, and it also runs events and charity work such as the Good Friday Appeal for the Royal Children's Hospital. Recruitment is led by journalism roles such as political, health, banking and regional reporters, editors and audience and social media producers, alongside account managers, fundraising staff and warehouse operators.

What's the role?

Step into a high-impact position at News Corp Australia, where you will help shape the financial operations of Australia’s most influential media organisation.

Reporting to the Manager of Financial Accounting, this role goes beyond standard reporting - it's an opportunity to drive transformation, simplify complex processes, and take ownership of USGAAP and IFRS accounting for key transactions. You will champion robust financial governance, elevate data accuracy, and build collaborative partnerships across Group Compliance, Tax, and audit teams to keep our business moving forward.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and yearly accounting and reporting under USGAAP and IFRS.

  • Maintain strict compliance with relevant accounting standards, SOx requirements, and internal business policies.

  • Embed robust accounting and financial procedures to govern and enhance the accuracy of financial information.

  • Monitor and review the outputs of team members to identify issues promptly and implement preventative measures.

  • Ensure excellence in the quality and timeliness of responses to both internal and external audit requests.

  • Lead and execute transformation projects aimed at simplifying, consolidating, or re-engineering existing finance processes.

Who are you?

  • A CA or CPA with over 5 years of proven experience in financial accounting roles.

  • Highly experienced in IFRS, with knowledge of USGAAP considered a strong advantage.

  • Experienced in adhering to strong internal control frameworks, such as SOx or equivalent standards.

  • Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders and build meaningful relationships across the business.

  • Experienced in working seamlessly alongside an offshore function.

  • A detail-oriented, highly organised, and motivated high-performer who brings positive energy, curiosity, and strong career aspirations to the team.
