(Snr.) Product Quality Engineer – NPI/NTI

About the role

In exciting role, you will be part of the Product Quality Management & Engineering Team within our business group (BG) Integrated Circuit Solutions (ICS) which is responsible for developing and delivering an analog and mixed signal IC portfolio for power and signal chain, targeting to enhance applications in automotive, industry, consumer electronics, IT and telecommunication.

The (Snr.) Product Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring the successful introduction of new semiconductor products and technologies into mass production with robust quality and reliability performance. This role provides quality leadership throughout the entire NPI/NTI lifecycle, ensuring compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and industry regulations. The position requires strong technical expertise, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement.

This role is located in Seremban, Malaysia.

What you will do

• Quality Engineering Assurance - Lead all quality-related activities for New Product Introduction (NPI) and New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects, ensuring robust product and process readiness; support execution of qualifications to ensure timely and successful releases

• Compliance & Standards - Ensure full adherence to industry standards (JEDEC, AEC-Q100, AEC-Q006, IATF16949,…) and customer-specific requirements throughout the development and qualification lifecycle

• Qualification Management - Define, review, and approve qualification strategies, reliability test plans, and risk assessments (DFMEA, PFMEA) to ensure product robustness

• Risk Mitigation - Identify potential failure mechanisms early, drive structured problem-solving (8D…), and implement effective corrective and preventive actions

• Cross-Functional Collaboration - Lead cross-functional alignment with R&D, process engineering, manufacturing, test engineering, and reliability labs to ensure seamless product and technology introduction

• Data-Driven Analysis - Analyze yield, test, and reliability data to detect trends, deviations, and systemic risks; drive data-based decision-making and improvement actions

• Customer Interface - Represent Quality in customer discussions related to new product qualifications, technical quality topics, and reliability performance

• Documentation Ownership - Ensure timely and accurate completion of quality documentation including qualification reports, control plans, PPAP/PSW packages, and change management records; Own Quality & Zero Defect project gate deliverables

• Production Readiness - Define safe launch plans and review/conclude on results; validate manufacturing readiness, process capability, and quality controls prior to release to mass production; support ramp-up and early field performance monitoring

• Continuous Improvement - Initiate and drive initiatives to enhance product reliability, process stability, and overall quality performance across the NPI/NTI portfolio

What you will need

Technical skills:

• Good knowledge of semiconductor devices, assembly/packaging, wafer fabrication, or test engineering

• Experience with NPI/NTI processes in semiconductor or high-reliability electronics

• Strong understanding of reliability testing (HTOL, HAST, TC, HTS, ESD, Latch-up).

• Good knowledge of failure analyses techniques (SEM, EDX, X-Ray, curve tracing, decapsulation, cross-sectioning, FIB, OBIRCH,…)

• Familiarity with manufacturing processes: wafer fabrication, assembly, test & reliability

• Strong understanding and use of quality and root cause finding tools: 8D, FMEA, SPC, DOE, APQP,…

• Understanding of automotive quality standards (AEC-Q100, JEDEC JESD47, IATF 16949,…) is a strong plus

Soft skills:

• Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management.

• Excellent communication skills with ability to influence engineering and management teams.

• Analytical mindset with a structured, data-driven decision making to apply pragmatic approaches

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

• Problem-solving mindset with a focus on prevention rather than detection.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or related field.

• 5+ years of experience in semiconductor quality, failure analysis, product engineering, or reliability engineering is preferred. However, this job position is open for non-experienced engineers with willingness to learn and grow in this field.

• Experience in automotive semiconductor environments is a strong advantage.
• Experience with global customers (automotive, industrial, consumer electronics) is beneficial.
