NielsenIQ is a consumer intelligence company whose retail measurement business traces back to the market research firm founded by Arthur Nielsen in 1923, and which was separated from Nielsen Holdings in 2021 when Advent International bought the connect division. It measures what shoppers buy across grocery, pharmacy, convenience and ecommerce channels, and sells that read of market share, pricing and promotion effectiveness to consumer goods manufacturers and retailers. The company merged with GfK in 2023, listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 2025, and operates in more than ninety countries from its base in Chicago.
