Summary
In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to gather and analyze requirements
for customer-facing applications and trip planner systems within NJ Transit. Responsibilities will include
conducting comprehensive analysis of existing systems, designing technical solutions, developing
detailed specifications, and utilizing programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript to
implement and enhance features. Possess a strong understanding of software development
methodologies, design patterns, and best practices, along with proficiency in development frameworks
and technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, UX/UI designers, and
product managers to gather and analyze requirements for customer-facing applications and trip
planner systems.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing systems to identify opportunities for improvement,
scalability, and performance optimization.
- Design and architect technical solutions, considering factors such as system architecture, data
models, APIs, and integration points.
- Develop detailed technical specifications and documentation for software components and
system functionalities.
- Utilize programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript to implement and enhance
features within customer-facing applications and trip planner systems.
- Conduct thorough testing and debugging of software components to ensure high quality and
reliability.
- Collaborate with quality assurance teams to define test cases and ensure proper testing coverage
for all system functionalities.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in software
development, and make recommendations for technology adoption and innovation.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders, including troubleshooting issues
and addressing user inquiries.
- Participate in code reviews, knowledge sharing sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
to enhance team productivity and software quality.
Education, Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Degree can be substituted by 4 years of relevant experience
- Proven experience as a Systems Analyst or similar role, with a focus on customer-facing
applications and trip planner systems within the transportation industry.
- Hands-on experience with: Node.js/Nuxt, Vue, Apollo GraphQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, and AWS services (S3, API Gateway, Fargate), with an understanding of UI/UX and accessibility best practices.
- Ability and willingness to take on Oracle APEX and Salesforce support.
- Willingness to manage and perform Drupal CMS content updates as needed.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent written, verbal skills are required.
- Experience in technical business analysis in a related industry.
- Advanced knowledge of programming languages.
- Ability to keep up with IT advancements.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Access or PowerPoint.
- Must be able to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in system analysis methodologies and tools.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical
information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Knowledge of software development life cycle (SDLC) and project management principles.
