C++ Software Intern

What you’ll do

This is a paid Summer Engineering Internship Program (mid May to early August). As an intern with our Austin Software group, you’ll work to assist in development of our autonomous underwater vehicle development program doing software development, algorithm development, and vehicle operation/testing. Additional responsibilities may include user documentation, testing and requirements gathering.

Your job responsibilities and projects will be based upon your experience and educational background to provide real life application of your classroom knowledge. You’ll work closely with a mentor to ensure your developmental goals are met and that you meet your performance expectations.

Location

• Role provides the opportunity to work in hybrid environment, working both virtually and in office when required.

Functions

ESSENTIAL

• Carries out tasks as assigned by Project Manager and the Software Development Manager. Tasks would generally be software development, algorithm development, and documentation.

• Assist in preparing presentations, articles, and technical papers.

• Interface inside and outside a meeting setting with project team members and clients.

• Testing software remotely, in simulation and on the designated vehicle.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• BS, MS or PhD candidate at an accredited University, pursuing a degree in Software Engineering, Robotics or equivalent
• Minimum 2.5 GPA
• Experience with Microsoft Office
• Experience with C++
• Experience with software development concepts such as Object-Oriented Design
• Experience with Network programming concepts
• Experience with multithreaded programming concepts
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
• Ability to work in a high-performance team on projects with constantly shifting schedules
• Experience with vehicle control system concepts

Working Conditions

This position is considered OFFICE WORK which is characterized as follows.

• Almost exclusively indoors during the day and occasionally at night

• Occasional exposure to airborne dust in the work place

• Work surface is stable (flat)
