Octopus Energy is a UK-based energy supplier that offers innovative smart tariffs and renewable energy solutions. Known for its award-winning customer service and commitment to a greener future, Octopus Energy provides great value for the long term with prices historically cheaper than any other large supplier. As one of Europe's leading investors in renewable energy generation, the company is highly trusted, holding a five-star customer service rating.

At Octopus Energy Services, we're on a mission to make the journey to a greener future simple, affordable and accessible for everyone. As we continue to grow at pace, we're investing in our logistics network to ensure we deliver exceptional service to our customers and support our teams across the UK.

We're looking for a passionate, driven and people-focused Logistics Operations Manager to lead one of our logistics operations. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll have full accountability for warehouse, inventory and transport operations, creating a safe, high-performing and customer-centric environment that enables us to scale for the future.

You'll be responsible for developing outstanding teams, driving operational excellence and ensuring our products and materials reach the right place, at the right time, every time.

We are looking for somebody with awesome people skills and a keen eye to detail. The role will be broad, varied and fast-moving. No two days will look quite the same, so being adaptable and ready to embrace change is essential.

What you'll do

    Lead and inspire high-performing teams

    • Build, lead and develop a diverse team across warehouse, inventory, transport and operational support functions.

    • Create a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.

    • Coach, mentor and develop leaders and team members, helping them reach their full potential.

    • Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning and talent development across the site.

    • Champion the Octopus culture by creating an environment where people feel empowered, trusted and excited to do their best work.

    • Own site performance

      • Take full operational responsibility for the safe and efficient running of the site.

      • Deliver against key performance indicators including service, productivity, inventory accuracy, quality, cost and customer satisfaction.

      • Ensure all operational activities are executed efficiently while maintaining exceptional service standards and reducing waste.

      • Manage site budgets and resources to maximise operational effectiveness and value.

      • Champion health, safety and compliance

        • Lead a safety-first culture where every colleague goes home safely every day.

        • Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation, transport regulations, company policies and industry standards.

        • Drive proactive risk management, incident prevention and continuous improvement of safety performance.

        • Maintain excellent standards of housekeeping, site organisation and operational discipline.

        • Drive operational excellence

          • Continuously review and improve warehouse, inventory and transport processes to increase efficiency and service performance.

          • Identify bottlenecks, analyse root causes and implement sustainable solutions.

          • Lead and embed operational improvement and change initiatives that support growth, scalability and customer satisfaction whilst bringing the teams on the journey to ensure changes are implemented successfully and sustainably.

          • Use data, reporting and performance metrics to inform decisions and drive measurable improvements.

          • Manage inventory and operational controls

            • Ensure high levels of stock accuracy through robust inventory management processes.

            • Develop strong governance around transactional integrity, stock investigations and inventory reporting.

            • Work closely with operational teams to drive accountability for inventory accuracy and process compliance.

            • Monitor and improve key inventory metrics including stock accuracy, adjustments, losses and cycle count performance.

            • Collaborate across the business

              • Partner closely with planning, procurement, customer operations, field services and wider support teams.

              • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure seamless end-to-end service delivery.

              • Act as a key operational leader within the wider logistics and supply chain network. Collaborating with other sites, sharing best practice, supporting network-wide initiatives and working together to deliver the best possible outcomes for our colleagues and customers.

              • Contribute to strategic projects, site launches and network development initiatives.

              • Work closely with our third-party logistics partners to drive outstanding service, improve efficiency, optimise costs and continuously raise the bar for operational performance, ensuring our customers receive a brilliant experience every time.

What you'll need

    Experience

    • Proven experience leading large operational teams (typically 50-100+ colleagues) within logistics, distribution, warehousing or supply chain environments.

    • Experience managing both warehouse and transport operations in a fast-paced environment.

    • Strong track record of delivering operational improvements and measurable business results.

    • Experience operating within customer-focused environments, ideally B2C logistics.

    • Leadership

      • An inspirational leader who creates high-performing, engaged and motivated teams.

      • Strong coaching and people development capabilities.

      • Comfortable managing through change and supporting teams through periods of growth and transformation.

      • Passionate about building a positive culture where people are empowered to take ownership, solve problems and continuously improve.

      • Operational excellence

        • Excellent understanding of warehouse operations, inventory management and transport processes.

        • Experience using operational data and performance metrics to drive decision making.

        • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on delivering practical solutions.

        • Always looking for smarter, simpler and more efficient ways of working.

        • Communication

          • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.

          • Ability to build trusted relationships across all levels of the organisation.

          • Comfortable influencing, challenging and collaborating to achieve the best outcomes.

          • Personal qualities

            • Passionate about delivering outstanding customer experiences.

            • Highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-moving environment.

            • Resilient, flexible, adaptable and energised by challenges.

            • Excited by the opportunity to help build and shape the future of logistics at Octopus Energy.
            • Spots opportunities, takes ownership and isn't afraid to challenge the way things have always been done, if it means delivering a better experience for our customers and colleagues.
