Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining our next-generation payment platform. This position requires strong hands-on experience with distributed systems, Java-based microservices, and high-volume transaction processing. You will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions while collaborating closely with product, infrastructure, security, and other engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

1. Software Development

• Design, architect, and develop backend software solutions for high-volume payment processing.
• Create and maintain high-quality, optimized code with robust unit tests and appropriate test coverage.
• Develop scalable, secure, and reliable software solutions using Java and Spring technologies.
• Contribute to the evolution of the payment platform and its underlying architecture.

2. Software Architecture & Distributed Systems

• Lead the design and architecture of complex distributed systems that handle real-time financial transactions at scale.
• Take a lead role in the transition to a microservices-based architecture for payments.
• Design and implement solutions based on Event-Driven Software Design Patterns.
• Ensure systems meet high standards of scalability, security, and reliability.

3. Payments & Integrations

• Lead the integration of payment gateways, banks, card networks, and alternative payment methods.
• Work with payment flows, settlement, reconciliation, and fraud detection mechanisms.
• Contribute to the development of solutions supporting high-volume financial transactions.

4. APIs & Security

• Design and develop secure and scalable RESTful APIs.
• Implement and work with OAuth2 Security, JWT, and SSO mechanisms.
• Ensure the security and reliability of payment-related services and integrations.

5. AWS & Cloud

• Design and develop solutions using AWS cloud services.
• Work with AWS services including IAM, EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, and API Gateway.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize cloud-based solutions.

6. Databases & Transaction Management

• Work with PostgreSQL, MySQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Implement and optimize transaction management.
• Perform database tuning to support high-volume transaction processing.
• Contribute to high-availability strategies for critical payment systems.

7. DevOps & Production Systems

• Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimize CI/CD pipelines.
• Contribute to monitoring strategies for production systems.
• Support the scalability, performance, and reliability of production environments.

8. Technical Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior developers.
• Guide the team in best practices and efficient coding techniques.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver highly scalable and performant solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives, identifying bottlenecks and optimizing the software development lifecycle.

9. Technical Documentation

• Produce clear and concise technical requirements, design documents, and specifications.
• Communicate complex technical concepts effectively with technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements

The professional must be based in Peru.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
• 7 years of experience in backend software development.
• Desirable: experience leading teams and architecting payment systems.
• Proven working experience in the FinTech/Payments industry.

Java & Spring

• Deep knowledge of Java 11+.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot.
• Strong experience with Spring Cloud (Netflix OSS).
• Strong experience with JPA ORM.

Software Architecture

• Strong understanding of distributed systems.
• Extensive experience with Event-Driven Software Design Patterns.
• Expertise in microservices architecture.
• Experience architecting and designing complex systems.

Payments

• Strong understanding of payment flows.
• Experience with settlement and reconciliation.
• Knowledge of fraud detection mechanisms.
• Experience integrating payment systems and financial institutions.

APIs & Security

• Expertise in designing secure RESTful APIs.
• Strong knowledge of OAuth2 Security.
• Experience with JWT and SSO mechanisms.

AWS

• Strong experience with AWS cloud services, including:
• IAM
• EC2
• S3
• Lambda
• RDS
• DynamoDB
• API Gateway

Databases & Performance

• Hands-on experience with transaction management.
• Experience with database tuning.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or NoSQL stores.
• Experience with high-availability strategies.
• Experience working with high-volume transaction processing environments.

Version Control & Engineering Practices

• Advanced proficiency in Git for source control and versioning.
• Strong understanding of software development and coding best practices.
• Experience developing high-quality, optimized code with appropriate unit test coverage.
