Our Newest Opportunity:
Summary:
The Vendor Portfolio Manager leads the Vendor Management Office (VMO) and is accountable for the design, governance, maturation, and enterprise adoption of OneDigital’s vendor management operating model. The role establishes frameworks, technology, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration to manage third-party vendor relationships across their lifecycle while preserving appropriate business ownership and functional decision rights. The VMO is not a traditional source-to-pay or centralized procurement function; it provides the governance, visibility, standards, tools, and coordination needed to support business-led vendor decisions and lifecycle management. The role supports a diverse portfolio of transactional and contractual vendor relationships representing more than $200M in annual spend and more than 5,000 vendor relationships across the enterprise. Through strategic leadership and hands-on execution, the Vendor Portfolio Manager ensures vendor management practices are scalable, consistently applied, and aligned to enterprise objectives.
Partnering with business leaders and stakeholders, this role strengthens vendor governance, optimizes vendor investments, manages escalations, and supports enterprise growth through M&A activity and organic growth initiatives. The Vendor Portfolio Manager also oversees VMO team activities while remaining engaged in core vendor management, governance, risk, contractual, and operational work. In this capacity, the role delivers data-driven recommendations, guides vendor decisions, improves visibility, reduces unnecessary cost and duplication, supports regulatory compliance, and creates measurable organizational value.
The ideal candidate brings strategic leadership, vendor management expertise, and analytical judgement. They excel at solving complex business challenges, building consensus among stakeholder groups, and influencing decisions across a matrixed enterprise. Success requires balancing business enablement, financial value, risk management, compliance, and practical implementation while advancing a scalable, technology-enabled VMO.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
VMO Strategy Leadership
- Lead the Vendor Management Office (VMO), including strategy, operating models, policies, governance standards, service delivery, technology roadmap, organizational goals, and performance metrics
- Develop and mature vendor management, contract governance, and Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) capabilities while ensuring clear ownership, accountability, and decision rights across the organization
- Lead, coach, and develop the VMO team; establish priorities, workload management practices, training plans, service expectations, and quality standards
- Prepare executive reporting, business cases, investment recommendations, operating updates, and risk or capacity escalations supporting strategic decision-making and program maturity
Vendor Lifecycle Oversight
- Establish and govern risk-based vendor lifecycle requirements, including intake, onboarding, due diligence, reassessment, performance management, issue resolution, offboarding, and record retention
- Oversee the organization’s Third-Party Risk Management (TPRM) program and vendor risk governance activities, partnering with Legal, Information Security, and business stakeholders to assess and support mitigation of vendor-related risks while preserving subject-matter ownership within each function
- Ensure vendor and engagement records, approvals, findings, agreements, and supporting documentation remain complete, defensible, audit-ready, and aligned with regulatory, contractual, and organizational requirements
Vendor Relationships & Contract Governance
- Lead or advise business owners on sourcing approaches, commercial structures, contract considerations, negotiation readiness, and total cost and value realization opportunities
- Lead or support complex vendor negotiations, escalations, and relationship matters in partnership with Legal, business leadership, and other stakeholders
- Maintain governance standards for vendor agreements, including visibility, renewal management, service expectations, commercial obligations, and vendor accountability
- Foster productive relationships with vendors and internal stakeholders while supporting resolution of performance, operational, contractual, compliance, and service-related challenges
Portfolio Optimization & Value Realization
- Create visibility into a diverse enterprise vendor portfolio, including transactional and contractual relationships, with insight into ownership, utilization, contract commitments, criticality, performance, risk exposure, and portfolio concentration
- Identify and lead vendor rationalization, consolidation, standardization, cost optimization, preferred supplier, and value realization initiatives to improve operational effectiveness and reduce unnecessary spend
- Establish governance and integration frameworks for acquired vendor portfolios, partnering with M&A, IT, Finance, Legal, and business leaders to support vendor transition, risk assessment, ownership assignment, and lifecycle integration activities
- Deliver data-driven recommendations and portfolio insights that support enterprise growth objectives, operational efficiency, and risk-informed decision-making
Technology, Data & Continuous Improvement
- Own the business design, strategic direction, implementation, and continuous improvement of VMO technologies, including workflow automation, reporting platforms, vendor management systems, self-service capabilities, and AI-enabled tools
- Establish vendor data governance standards, reporting requirements, performance metrics, and system-of-record expectations providing visibility into portfolio health, lifecycle activity, risk, spend, vendor performance, and organizational value
- Drive continuous improvement through process optimization, stakeholder feedback, analytics, automation, and technology-enabled solutions that enhance the business and vendor experience, improve data quality, and reduce administrative burden

- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, risk management, supply chain management, finance, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 6+ years of progressive experience in vendor management, third-party risk management, contract governance, supplier management, or a related field, preferably within a large, multi-location company or one with significant M&A activity.
- Professional background in highly regulated industries, such as insurance, financial services, healthcare, or other environments with complex regulatory, compliance, and audit requirements, preferred.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, negotiation, and collaboration skills to work effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Self-starter with strong critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in ambiguous and evolving environments.
