Test Automation Engineer

Description

Onera is hiring a Test Automation Engineerresponsible for designing, developing and maintaining automated tests across our software stack.

You will work closely with software engineers, system engineers and other R&D disciplines to make automated testing an integral part of our development process. You will not simply execute predefined tests-you will help determine what should be tested, how it should be tested and how we can continuously improve our test automation strategy. Your work will contribute directly to the quality and reliability of products that are used in a regulated medical environment.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain automated test frameworks and test cases using Python and Selenium

• Extend our automated testing capabilities using Playwright

• Design robust, maintainable and reusable automated tests for web-based applications and services

• Work closely with developers to understand system architecture, features and potential failure modes

• Identify opportunities to increase test coverage and improve the effectiveness of our automated testing

• Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows

• Analyse test failures, distinguish between product defects and test/infrastructure issues, and drive issues to resolution

• Contribute to the definition of test strategies and quality practices across the R&D organization

• Help establish and maintain reliable test environments and test data

• Document test approaches, results and relevant quality evidence in line with our regulated development processes

• Continuously improve our automation frameworks, tooling and ways of working

What you bring

Must have

• Strong hands-on experience with Python

• Solid professional experience with Selenium and automated UI testing

• Experience designing and maintaining automated test frameworks

• Good understanding of software testing principles, test design and test automation

• Experience working with Git and modern software development workflows

• Ability to analyse failures and debug issues across application and test code

• A pragmatic, engineering-oriented mindset and a strong focus on software quality

Nice to have

• Experience with Playwright

• Knowledge of Vue.js, TypeScript and/or Node.js

• Experience testing modern web applications

• Understanding of AWS services and cloud-based architectures

• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices

• Experience with API testing

• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment

• Experience in a regulated environment, preferably medical devices

• Familiarity with software development processes following standards such as IEC 62304 or ISO 13485
