OnlineDoctor is a telemedicine company that connects patients with skin problems to dermatologists, who provide remote, asynchronous diagnoses and treatment plans. Its platform is a certified medical device and it hires AI and automation engineers. The company is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany.

Join OnlineDoctor: Were Expanding!

We are a fast-growing telemedicine company focused on improving access to dermatological care. Our platform uses technology to connect patients with dermatologists, enabling them to receive diagnoses and treatment plans remotely and asynchronously.

Were looking for an AI Enablement & Automation Engineer to help us improve and automate internal processes across OnlineDoctor. You will work closely with teams across the organization to understand their workflows, and identify opportunities for automation, turning them into reliable technical solutions.

This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on solving real operational problems. You will build and maintain automations, integrations, internal tools, and AI-enabled workflows, while ensuring that solutions are reliable, maintainable, secure, and appropriate for a regulated healthcare environment.

You will work closely with the responsible compliance, security, privacy, quality, AI, and regulatory experts. You are not expected to make governance or regulatory decisions independently; your responsibility is to understand agreed requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions and operational controls.

What we offer:

- Flexibility: You decide if you want to work remote or if you prefer to visit one of our Offices (Hamburg, St. Gallen, Zürich). We offer you a flexible schedule and a working time model that suits you.

- Learning culture: We offer you a steep learning curve in your daily work and support you in your personal and professional development through regular retro and inspiration sessions as well as advanced training. We are open for ideas and impulses and help you with the implementation.

- Team events: Skiing in Switzerland, white water rafting in Vienna - we regularly get together with our entire team and thus increase our teamwork.

- Fair salary: An attractive salary is a matter of course for us.

- Additional benefits: Free choice of laptop, home office allowance, additional vacation day, etc.

- Our Values: Respect and tolerance are part of our DNA. We actively support diversity and inclusion, believing they are the keys to a successful and healthy company culture.

Work Location & Relocation:

Due to current legal and regulatory reasons, we can only hire team members who live in Germany or Switzerland. If youre based elsewhere but excited to join OnlineDoctor, were happy to discuss and support your relocation to either country.

Ready to Join Us?

If weve convinced you, get in touch to apply for this position. We look forward to meeting you soon!

Requirements

- Professional experience in software engineering, automation engineering, systems integration, internal tooling, or a comparable hands-on technical role.

- Proven experience independently designing, building, and maintaining software, integrations, or automation solutions used in day-to-day operations.

- Strong practical programming or scripting skills and experience working with APIs, webhooks, data sources, business systems, and automation or integration tools.

- Practical familiarity with generative AI, AI assistants, or AI-supported workflows. Deep machine-learning or AI research expertise is not required.

- Understanding of authentication, authorization, secrets management, logging, monitoring, and basic cloud-security practices.

- Ability to understand operational problems and translate them into pragmatic, reliable, and maintainable technical solutions.

- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Process Automation & Solution Development

- Work closely with teams across the organization to understand workflows, identify bottlenecks, and uncover opportunities for process improvement and automation.

- Design and build internal automation and AI-enabled solutions, including assistants, agents, document workflows, extraction and classification, and knowledge search.

- Build and maintain integrations between AI services and systems such as SharePoint, Teams, Jira, Confluence, Zoho, and other internal tools using APIs, webhooks, scripting, and automation tools.

Solution Ownership & Operations

- Take ownership of solutions beyond the prototype stage, including testing, deployment, monitoring, documentation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

- Maintain and further develop existing automation and AI solutions across the organization.

- Establish reusable standards for integrations, access controls, testing, monitoring, error handling, documentation, and human review.

AI Enablement & Governance

- Support teams in evaluating automation and AI ideas, developing suitable solutions, and using approved tools effectively.

- Identify and prioritize internal automation and AI use cases based on value, feasibility, effort, data sensitivity, risk, and expected adoption.

- Work closely with IT, Security, Privacy, Quality Management, Regulatory, Legal, and other relevant experts to translate agreed requirements into practical technical controls.
