About the Team

OpenAI’s Communications team is responsible for helping people understand our technology, our mission, and the impact AI can have when deployed safely and responsibly. Across EMEA, we work closely with business, start-up, developer, product, marketing, global affairs, and policy teams to tell clear, credible stories about how OpenAI is helping organisations build, scale, and solve meaningful problems.

The EMEA B2B Communications team is small, fast-moving, and highly cross-functional. We support some of OpenAI’s most important external audiences, including enterprises, founders, developers, technical communities, journalists, creators, and policymakers. Our work spans proactive storytelling, media relations, executive communications, launches, events, case studies, and campaigns that build awareness, understanding, and trust.

About the Role

We’re seeking a strategic, hands-on communications leader to help shape and deliver OpenAI’s B2B communications across EMEA. This role will report to the Head of B2B Comms, EMEA and will be a senior member of a small, high-impact regional communications team.

The B2B Comms Lead, EMEA will build awareness, understanding and trust with business audiences by showing how organisations across the region are using OpenAI to transform how they work, serve customers and create value. The role will connect OpenAI’s global priorities with the needs of EMEA markets, combining clear strategy with excellent day-to-day execution.

This person will work cross-functionally with B2B and global communications, GTM, marketing, product, legal, global affairs and country communications teams. International travel will be required.

In this role, you will:

• Drive the EMEA B2B communications strategy, translating global priorities into a focused regional programme with clear audiences, narratives and outcomes.

• Lead proactive, integrated campaigns across earned and owned channels that build understanding of OpenAI’s technology, demonstrate business value and strengthen trust.

• Build a strong pipeline of customer, partner and ecosystem stories that show tangible impact across markets and priority industries.

• Shape regional narratives and messaging, translating complex technology and product developments into clear, compelling stories for business audiences.

• Lead communications for relevant launches, executive moments and tentpole events across EMEA, ensuring strong regional coordination and local relevance.

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with leading business, technology and trade media, as well as influential creators and commentators across the region.

• Advise and prepare senior spokespeople for media, speaking and stakeholder opportunities, including briefing materials, talking points and engagement plans.

• Partner closely with country communications leads and global teams to create clear ways of working, share insight and ensure EMEA perspectives inform global strategy.

• Identify emerging opportunities and reputational risks, providing sound communications counsel and helping the team respond quickly and confidently.

• Manage agency partners, budgets and operating rhythms, setting a high bar for strategic thinking, creativity and execution.

• Lead and develop team members where relevant, contributing to an ambitious, collaborative and low-ego culture in which everyone is comfortable being flexible and scrappy.

You might thrive in this role if you:

• Have substantial senior communications experience in-house or at an agency, with a strong track record in B2B technology, enterprise, advertising and business communications.

• Have experience leading regional or international communications programmes within global organisations and complex operating environments.

• Have excellent media relations instincts and established relationships with business and technology journalists across the UK, Europe and MENA.

• Have exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to turn complex technical concepts into clear, accurate and engaging business narratives.

• Have a record of developing proactive campaigns and customer stories that deliver measurable communications and business impact.

• Demonstrate strong executive counsel and issues-management judgment, including the ability to operate calmly and make good decisions at pace.

• Have demonstrated success working cross-functionally with teams such as GTM, marketing, product, legal, global affairs and local market teams.

• Have experience managing agency partners, budgets and teams, with strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise across competing demands.

• Have deep curiosity about AI and its impact on businesses and society; familiarity with enterprise software, emerging technology or the AI landscape is a plus.

• Bring a highly collaborative, pragmatic and hands-on approach, with the confidence to lead strategically and step into execution when needed.
