Oracle is an American enterprise technology company founded in 1977 by Larry Ellison, Bob Miner and Ed Oates, and headquartered in Austin, Texas. It built its business on the Oracle Database, still the reference relational engine for large transactional systems, and has expanded into a full applications suite covering finance, human resources, supply chain and customer experience through Fusion Cloud and NetSuite. Its fastest growing segment is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which the company has positioned aggressively for AI training and inference workloads through large multi-year capacity contracts.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is seeking an experienced Occupancy Planner to support Property Management's space and occupancy planning activities across Oracle's North America data center portfolio.

Based in Abilene, TX this role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of occupancy data, seating plans, space assignments, moves, adds and changes (MAC), floor plans, and utilization reporting across assigned data center facilities. The Occupancy Planner will help ensure that employees, contractors, vendors, and other site occupants are appropriately accommodated while maximizing the efficient use of Oracle's facilities.

The position will work closely with the Senior Space & Occupancy Planner and partner with Property Management, Data Center Operations, Global Real Estate, Security, Engineering, Construction, IT, Workplace Services, and other stakeholders to translate workforce and operational requirements into executable occupancy solutions.

This role requires a highly organized and analytical planner who is comfortable working with floor plans and occupancy-management systems, coordinating multiple simultaneous requests, maintaining accurate data, and solving space problems in a rapidly growing and changing environment.

Occupancy Planning & Space Management

  • Manage day-to-day occupancy planning across assigned North America data center facilities.

  • Develop seating and space-assignment plans for employees, contractors, vendors, operational teams, and business partners.

  • Evaluate space requests and recommend solutions based on available capacity, utilization, adjacency requirements, operational needs, and established planning standards.

  • Identify opportunities to consolidate, restack, or repurpose existing space before recommending additional capacity.

  • Support short- and mid-term occupancy requirements associated with workforce growth and organizational changes.

  • Develop test fits, block plans, seating layouts, and other planning solutions as required.

  • Support implementation of portfolio space strategies developed in partnership with the Senior Space & Occupancy Planner.

Moves, Adds & Changes (MAC)

  • Coordinate moves, adds, and changes from initial request through completion.

  • Develop move plans, sequencing, schedules, and occupant communications.

  • Coordinate with IT, Security, Facilities, furniture vendors, movers, Workplace Services, and other stakeholders to ensure successful execution.

  • Support large-scale restacks, relocations, consolidations, expansions, and new-site occupancies.

  • Verify completed moves and update floor plans, occupancy systems, and space inventories following execution.

  • Minimize disruption to data center operations during occupancy changes.

Space & Occupancy Data Management

  • Maintain accurate space, seat, organizational, and occupancy information within Oracle's designated IWMS/CAFM and related planning systems.

  • Maintain floor plans and seating layouts using AutoCAD or other approved planning tools.

  • Reconcile information across floor plans, occupancy systems, headcount records, badge/access data, local records, and physical observations.

  • Conduct periodic physical and virtual space audits to validate occupancy and space information.

  • Identify data discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate stakeholders.

  • Support development and enforcement of data standards and governance procedures.

Utilization Analysis & Reporting

  • Monitor occupancy, capacity, vacancy, utilization, and other space-management metrics.

  • Analyze badge, headcount, seat-assignment, and observational data to understand actual space utilization.

  • Produce recurring occupancy dashboards, reports, floor plans, and capacity summaries.

  • Identify areas approaching capacity as well as underutilized spaces that may present consolidation or optimization opportunities.

  • Support forecasting and scenario analysis by maintaining accurate current-state occupancy and capacity information.

  • Provide data and analysis supporting capital planning, construction, expansion, and consolidation decisions.

New Sites, Expansions & Construction

  • Support occupancy planning for new data centers, expansions, renovations, and other infrastructure projects.

  • Review design and construction drawings from an operational occupancy perspective.

  • Validate seat counts, room capacities, adjacencies, furniture layouts, and operational requirements.

  • Coordinate with Construction, Engineering, Property Management, Operations, Security, IT, and design teams during project delivery.

  • Support move-in readiness and occupancy activation for new facilities.

  • Document post-occupancy observations and lessons learned to improve future site designs and planning standards.

Process Improvement & Governance

  • Follow and help continuously improve standardized occupancy-planning processes, procedures, and documentation.

  • Support development of space-planning standards, utilization metrics, request workflows, and operating procedures.

  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring reports, audits, and data-management activities.

  • Maintain documentation and records necessary to support portfolio governance and decision-making.

  • Ensure planning activities comply with Oracle requirements, security standards, life-safety requirements, and applicable workplace guidelines.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an experienced occupancy or space planner who combines strong hands-on planning skills with analytical problem-solving and exceptional attention to detail.

The candidate should be comfortable moving between floor plans, data analysis, stakeholder meetings, and physical site conditions. They should be able to take an ambiguous space request, understand the underlying business requirement, analyze available capacity, develop alternatives, and coordinate implementation of the selected solution.

Because OCI's North America data center portfolio is expanding rapidly, the successful candidate must be comfortable working in an evolving environment where processes and standards continue to mature.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in occupancy planning, space planning, facilities planning, workplace strategy, corporate real estate, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience managing seating assignments, occupancy data, space inventories, and moves/adds/changes.

  • Experience reading and working with architectural floor plans.

  • Experience using IWMS, CAFM, space-management, or similar workplace technology.

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar space-planning/design software.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with demonstrated attention to data accuracy.
