Job Description:

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Digital Communications Student Assistant for the SEE Communications & Outreach at Oregon State University (OSU).

  • The Student Experiences & Engagement Outreach and Communications team promotes SEE programs, services and opportunities to help students discover ways to connect, participate and build community at Oregon State University.

  • The SEE Digital Communications Specialist supports the work of the SEE Marketing and Communications team by capturing and editing photos/videos, maintaining website content, supporting social media and creating engaging digital content that highlights SEE programs, services, events and student experiences.

  • This includes, but is not limited to, digital content creation for SEE websites, social media, digital signage, newsletters and outreach communications.

  • This student position also retains outreach responsibilities by representing SEE at campus events, supporting tabling and helping current and prospective students understand SEE programs and involvement opportunities.

Position Duties:

  • Photo and video projects, as assigned.

  • Review the digital content calendar to coordinate multiple photo, video and content projects in advance to ensure adherence to deadlines.

  • Capture photos and videos that showcase SEE programs, services, facilities, events and student experiences.

  • Organize, catalog and maintain a searchable library of photos and videos for future marketing and communications use.

  • Edit photos and videos for use across SEE digital platforms, including websites, social media, digital signage and newsletters.

  • Adhere to Oregon State University and SEE brand standards and policies, including the administration of model release waivers

  • Collaborate with the SEE Outreach and Communications team and, when appropriate, campus partners to develop, produce and implement engaging and educational content for SEE digital channels.

  • Update and maintain SEE website content utilizing Drupal 10, including webpages, event information, links, images and other digital content.

  • Promote relevant SEE programs, services and involvement opportunities at Launch, Beavers.

  • Open House, Orange and Black Days and other outreach events.

  • Conduct tours and tour trainings of the Student Experience Center while providing a welcoming, engaging and informative experience for visitors.

  • Answer questions and help students identify programs, services and involvement opportunities that align with their interests and goals.

  • Use project management software to track assignments, communicate with team members and meet project deadlines.

  • Assist the SEE Outreach and Communications Coordinator with other outreach, marketing and communications projects as assigned.

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study

  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment

  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard

    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program

    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term

    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*

    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term

    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*

*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by theOffice of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Competency in photography and videography, and related equipment to produce quality digital content.

  • Experience editing video content using applications such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve or CapCut.

  • Experience editing, organizing photos using applications such as Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop or Flickr.

  • Proficiency with social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok and a commitment to staying current with emerging platforms, trends and industry best practices.

  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with individuals from a variety of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives.

Working Conditions/Schedule:

• One academic year (continuing employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a 30-day probationary period and satisfactory job performance as evaluated by immediate supervisor).

• 10 hours per week. Early morning, late night and weekend hours may be required.
