Job Title: Research Assistant - Research Cluster I

Location: Lagos

Job Summary

• To support the Cluster Head and faculty members in research across Macroeconomic Policy and Development; Finance, Accounting and Governance; and Trade, Investment and Development Finance.
• The role involves research and data analysis, monitoring relevant trends, preparing research outputs, and maintaining accurate records of research activities.

Job Description

• Support Cluster seminars, workshops, conferences and research engagement with industry, government and development-sector partners.
• The responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Conduct literature reviews, desk research and evidence gathering from credible academic, policy and industry sources.
• Monitor relevant macroeconomic, financial, trade, investment and sustainability trends and prepare briefings when requested.
• Collect, clean, organise and analyse economic, financial, trade, investment and developmentrelated data; assist with quantitative and qualitative research.
• Support the preparation and editing of research papers, policy briefs, reports, presentations, conference papers, manuscripts and grant proposals, including referencing and formatting.
• Maintain research databases, datasets, bibliographies and records; track project, publication and deliverable progress.
• Perform other research-related duties assigned by the Cluster Head.
• Identify relevant calls for papers, conferences, grants and funding opportunities and share them with the Cluster Head and faculty.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Trade, Investment, Development, Sustainability, or a related field is desirable.
• Familiarity with research methods, data analysis, academic referencing, and research ethics is an advantage.

Requirements/Competencies:

• Strong research, analytical, and critical-thinking skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication, accuracy, and attention to detail
• Ability to find, assess and synthesise information from academic and professional sources.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word; basic competence with quantitative analysis and statistical tools.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, work independently and collaborate with faculty and the Cluster Head.
