Cyber Security Specialist

About the jobpawaTech is looking for a Cyber Security Specialist with a strong security background, a proactive mindset, and the confidence to navigate unfamiliar environments and figure things out.As part of our team, you will help strengthen the security of our systems, products, and processes - from developing security policies and reviewing architecture to monitoring threats, coordinating security testing, and supporting incident response.What you’ll be doing:

• Creating, reviewing, and updating cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures, while ensuring alignment with relevant standards and regulatory requirements;
• Reviewing project documentation, architecture, and development practices to ensure security requirements and standards are met;
• Monitoring and analysing cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and security incidents, and tracking remediation activities;
• Performing security assessments, control testing, and risk analysis;
• Working closely with IT, infrastructure, cloud, and business teams to strengthen our security posture;
• Identifying security gaps and recommending practical remediation actions;
• Managing, maintaining, and supporting cybersecurity awareness initiatives and communicating security best practices across the organisation;
• Assessing the security risks of third-party tools and services before and during their use;
• Organising and coordinating external penetration testing activities, tracking identified risks and vulnerabilities through remediation;
• Supporting the SOC with incident investigations, evidence preservation, response, and recovery activities;
• Reviewing and fine-tuning security monitoring alerts and rules to improve detection and reduce false positives;
• Participating in an on-call rotation when required.

What makes you a great candidate:

• You have 3+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity or information security preferably in a regulated industry;
• You have hands-on experience with security technologies and tooling such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls, vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection solutions, and cloud security tools;
• You understand cybersecurity risks and controls and can apply that knowledge in a practical business and technology environment;
• You are proactive, independent, and comfortable taking initiative with minimal supervision;
• You are confident making decisions and taking ownership of security-related topics;
• You can work effectively across technical and non-technical teams;
• You are comfortable participating in an on-call rotation.

Extra expertise we appreciate:

• Experience working in regulated industries such as insurance, banking, FinTech, iGaming, or other licensed environments;
• Experience with frameworks and regulations such as ISO 27001, GDPR, NIST CSF, ISO 42001, or the EU Cybersecurity Act;
• Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as ISC2 CC/CISSP, CEH, or CompTIA Security+;
• Relevant higher education or other formal education in cybersecurity, information security, IT, or a related field.
