Senior Software Engineer(VK)

Position Summary:

In this position you are expected to work on a multitude of projects that impact customers directly. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in delivering high-quality software in a fast-paced agile environment. You will work across the stack, from Java back-end services to TypeScript-based front-end experiences, and use AI-assisted and agentic tooling to deliver faster and with higher quality. On our team, you will be given a high degree of ownership and responsibility for the overall quality and operation of every piece of software shipped.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement components of the product across the stack, from back-end services to TypeScript-based front-end user interfaces
• Apply AI-assisted and agentic tooling across design, coding, testing, code review, and delivery to improve team productivity and quality
• Build and operate LLM-based features, including agentic workflows and RAG pipelines, with attention to reliability, evaluation, and cost
• Deliver complex projects by defining structure in areas of uncertainty, identifying and expressing discrete deliverables, and coordinating with other teams
• Respond to time sensitive issues within multiple familiar software modules or subsystems, root cause issues, and proactively improve robustness of individual features
• Proactively help team by contributing to best practices and helping peers adopt AI-assisted development practices
• Assess the impact of issues to identify and drive systematic improvements within an area
• Work with engineering teams, product management, sales, and customers to understand requirements and develop solutions
• Work with support, the field and customers to collect relevant data to come up with solutions and/or workarounds on complex, critical customer problems

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience building enterprise products using Java, with hands-on experience with industry best practices
• Hands-on full-stack capability, including front-end development with TypeScript and a modern framework (e.g., React or Angular), and integrating front-end applications with back-end services and APIs
• AI-Driven Development: Hands-on experience applying AI-assisted and agentic tooling across the software development lifecycle (design, coding, testing, code review, and delivery), with a track record of measurably improving team productivity or quality and helping peers adopt these practices
• Experience designing, building, and running LLM-based applications beyond prototypes, including agentic workflows, RAG pipelines, tool/function calling, and orchestration (LangGraph, AutoGen, or in-house frameworks), with attention to reliability, evaluation, and cost
• Experience in analyzing, debugging and diagnosing complex software systems - considering complexities like Performance, Scale, Interaction with Operating Systems, Multi-threaded interactions, etc.
• Proficiency with efficient algorithm design, data structures and design patterns.
• Provide technical guidance to peers and junior engineers, contributing to high-quality software design and development
• Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality, provide constructive feedback, and enforce coding standards
• Collaborate with functional leaders and provide technical input on design and delivery
• Continuously review and make recommendations to improve processes, tools and implementation
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle critical situations involving high priority customer issues, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills
• Prior experience of working with teams in the US or other countries
• Minimum undergraduate college/university degree in computer science or related experience

Nice to have:

• Hands on experience with shell scripts or Python
• Prior experience in Unix/Linux/Mainframe systems
• Understanding of operating systems, databases and file systems
• Prior experience working in security, performance, monitoring and scalability
• Extensive experience in web application security, including expertise in certificates, ciphers, SSL/TLS protocols, and related security concepts
• Experience working with CI/CD and(or) DevOps workflows & tools
