Senior Director, Site Reliability Engineering

We are seeking a Senior Director, Site Reliability Engineering - Multi-tenant to lead the global organization responsible for the reliability, scalability, security, and operational evolution of the PingOne Multi-Tenant platform. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering - Infrastructure Operations, you will lead a multi-team organization through managers and senior technical leaders. You will set the SRE strategy, improve the operating model, and partner with Product, Development, Security, Customer Support, Customer Success, GRC, and Program Management to deliver reliable customer outcomes. This role combines organizational leadership with strong technical and operational judgment across a large, multi-region cloud platform. If you are passionate about building high-performing teams, improving how software is delivered and operated, and running dependable identity infrastructure at scale, this is the role for you.

You Will

  • Lead a global Multi-tenant SRE organization through managers and senior technical leaders, with accountability for reliability, operational readiness, execution, and talent development.
  • Define the strategy and operating model for Multi-tenant SRE, including ownership, decision rights, priorities, escalation paths, and regional coordination.
  • Own the reliability and platform-modernization roadmap, including Kubernetes adoption and lifecycle management, regional deployment strategy, data-platform improvements, technical-debt reduction, and operational risk reduction.
  • Partner with Product, Development, Architecture, Platform Security, GRC, Customer Support, Customer Success, and Program Management to identify dependencies early and translate product commitments into executable infrastructure plans.
  • Strengthen DevOps practices by improving collaboration between software delivery and operations, standardizing CI/CD and deployment controls, and expanding automation, self-service, and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Improve production operations through service-level objectives, observability, capacity planning, performance management, disaster recovery, incident response, post-incident reviews, and root-cause analysis.
  • Lead effective production change governance so changes are risk-assessed, reviewed, approved, executed, validated, and closed with appropriate traceability.
  • Establish organizational metrics covering reliability, customer-impacting incidents, change success, delivery predictability, toil, capacity, security exposure, cost efficiency, and RCA/PIR follow-through.
  • Manage staffing, resource allocation, succession planning, hiring, onboarding, leadership development, and career growth across multiple teams and geographies.
  • Represent Multi-tenant SRE with senior leadership and communicate technical risks, trade-offs, dependencies, investment needs, and commitments clearly and directly.

You Have

  • 12+ years of experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, cloud operations, platform engineering, or comparable engineering roles, including significant experience leading managers and senior technical leaders across multiple teams.
  • Demonstrated success operating high-volume, mission-critical, customer-facing SaaS services in a global environment.
  • Significant DevOps experience, including bringing software delivery and operations together through effective CI/CD practices, automation, platform tooling, and shared ownership of production outcomes.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code, cloud provisioning, Git-based delivery workflows, Kubernetes, deployment automation, and repeatable production practices.
  • Deep understanding of reliability engineering and modern production operations, including observability, incident management, capacity planning, disaster recovery, performance, and operational readiness.
  • Experience leading large-scale modernization, migration, or platform-standardization programs involving distributed dependencies and multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Strong business and operational judgment, with the ability to balance reliability, security, delivery speed, customer commitments, engineering capacity, and financial efficiency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical and operational issues to executives, engineering teams, customers, and cross-functional partners.

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Experience operating a large AWS-based SaaS, identity, authentication, or authorization platform across multiple regions.
  • Experience with Amazon EKS, EC2, EBS, Aurora, MSK or Kafka, Kinesis, S3, CloudFront, VPC networking, IAM, and related managed services.
  • Experience with GitOps and deployment platforms such as Argo CD, as well as Terraform or comparable infrastructure-as-code systems.
  • Experience building internal developer platforms, self-service capabilities, platform abstractions, or automation that reduces operational toil and developer-support demand.
  • Experience with security and compliance requirements for regulated customers, including vulnerability remediation, hardened container images, access governance, auditability, and risk management.
  • Experience leading follow-the-sun operating models and coordinating teams across the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific.
  • Familiarity with FinOps practices and using service, operational, and financial metrics to guide investment decisions.
  • Experience applying AI-assisted engineering or automation to incident analysis, infrastructure operations, testing, or delivery workflows.
