Sr. Electric Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
1. Technical Leadership
Lead and manage all electrical design activities for projects (power generation, gas compressors, pumping systems, oil & gas facilities).
Ensure electrical designs comply with applicable standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, API, client specifications).
Review and approve key deliverables:
Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
Load lists and power calculations
Protection & coordination studies
Cable sizing and routing
Earthing and lightning protection systems
Control and instrumentation interfaces
2. Design Management
Develop and maintain electrical design procedures, templates, and checklists.
Assign tasks to electrical design engineers and monitor progress against schedules.
Ensure design accuracy, completeness, and minimization of rework.
Coordinate electrical design inputs with mechanical, piping, instrumentation, and civil teams.
3. Project Support
Support project managers with technical inputs, estimates, and engineering schedules.
Participate in design review meetings, HAZOP / HAZID, and technical clarification meetings with clients.
Provide technical support during procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning stages.
Resolve technical issues and non-conformities during project execution.
4. Procurement & Vendor Coordination
Prepare technical specifications and datasheets for electrical equipment.
Review vendor drawings, documents, and technical offers.
Perform technical bid evaluations and support commercial decisions.
Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure compliance with design requirements.
5. Quality & Compliance
Ensure all electrical designs follow company QA/QC procedures.
Implement design verification and internal review processes.
Ensure proper document control, revision management, and design traceability.
Support audits and client inspections related to electrical engineering.
6. Team Development & Performance
Mentor and train electrical design engineers and junior staff.
Evaluate team performance and contribute to KPIs and annual assessments.
Identify skill gaps and propose technical training plans.
Promote best engineering practices and continuous improvement.
7. Interface with Operations & Commissioning
Coordinate with operation and commissioning teams to ensure design practicality.
Support site activities, troubleshooting, and as-built documentation.
Capture lessons learned and feed them back into design standards.
8. Innovation & Improvement
Improve standard designs, libraries, and reusable engineering packages.
Implement engineering tools, automation, and digital templates (Excel, ETAP, AutoCAD, etc.).
Support cost optimization and value engineering initiatives.
Requirements
B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering
3-7 years of experience in electrical design engineering.
Design & Review Proficiency
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, or 3D modeling, ETAP - Excel - Power point - Tia portal and other related softwares
