Software Engineering Manager

We’relooking for aSoftware Development Managerto lead a team working on backend systems builtmainly onaJava / Spring / Oracle / PostgreSQL stack.This is a hands-on leadership role focused onrunning a stable team, delivering reliably.

What YouwillDo:

Team Management

• Manage a team of software engineers (typically 5-10 people)

• Handle hiring, onboarding, performance reviews, and day-to-day support

• Keep the team productive, focused, and unblocked

• Support engineers in their technical and career growth

Delivery

• Own delivery of features and improvements from planning to release

• Work with product and stakeholders to agree on scope and timelines

• Track progress, manage risks, and step in when things drift

Technical Oversight

• Stay close enough to the code to understand challenges and trade-offs

• Review and guide design decisions (mainly withinan existing monolithic system)

• Ensure code quality, consistency, and maintainability

• Help the team make pragmatic decisions (not over-engineering solutions)

Systems & Stack

• Backend development inJava (Spring ecosystem)

• Databases:Oracle and PostgreSQL

• Primarilymonolithic applications, with some modularization efforts where needed

Collaboration

• Work with QA, product managers, and other teams

• Communicate clearly on progress, blockers, and trade-offs

• Represent the team in planning and coordination discussions

Requirements:

• Solid background inJava backend development(5-10+ years)

• Min 2 years of experience leading a team (or strong tech lead ready to step up)

• Experience working onmonolithic systemsandmaintainingexisting production codebases

• Good understanding ofSpring, relational databases, and backend architecture

• Comfortable balancing hands-on technical work with people management

Nice to Have:

• Experience withboth Oracle and PostgreSQL

• Familiarity with legacy systems and gradual modernization

• Experience improving development processes in a pragmatic way
