Joining Qantas at our brand-new Product Innovation Centre located in Adelaide, you will contribute to consumer needs by building intuitive, high-performing mobile experiences that respond to user feedback, enhance engagement and deliver intuitive solutions aligned with evolving customer expectations.

The Senior Android Developer leads the architecture, development, and delivery of Android software systems, combining hands-on coding expertise with mentoring responsibilities. They stay current with Android trends and ensure high-quality, well-designed software that meets business outcomes, performance standards, and data security requirements. With a pragmatic approach, they guide teams on efficient design and testing practices, proactively identifying and resolving code issues. As a key member of the Mobile team, they contribute across the entire app lifecycle-from planning and development to deployment and monitoring. Their leadership ensures the delivery of robust, user-focused mobile experiences while fostering continuous improvement and technical excellence across the team.

You’ll have:

• 6+ years in a similar role
• Extensive experience contributing to large Android projects and teams, with insight into associated challenges
• Strong grasp of software patterns and techniques that ensure flexible, high-quality code
• Proven technology experience across Kotlin, Android Studio, GitHub, Mobile Continuous Integration, Jetpack Compose
• Detail-oriented with a focus on automation, testing, and code quality
• Excellent communicator, able to translate technical needs across business and multidisciplinary teams Deep understanding of Android design principles, API design, and testing frameworks
• Confidence with CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitHub Actions
• Experience writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code
• Experience with server-driven architectures will be well regarded
• Ability to mentor junior developers and perform code reviews
• Confident in ability to assist in assessing and recruiting new team members
