About the opportunity
Join QIAGEN as an Automation Engineer, supporting manufacturing through reliable automation, software, and equipment solutions. You’ll maintain existing systems while developing future automation in collaboration with Production, Product Development, Quality, and PIMS teams.
Your tasks include
- Designing and implementing automation solutions for manufacturing and laboratory equipment.
- Developing software, equipment interfaces, and RESTful APIs using C#, Python, Java, or similar languages.
- Programming and troubleshooting PLCs, HMIs, and automated control systems.
- Maintaining in-house software, hardware, and automated equipment to support daily operations.
- Integrating sensors, actuators, drives, motion systems, and industrial instrumentation.
- Preparing technical, testing, and change-control documentation.
- Applying version control, backup, and access-control practices.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Automation, Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 1-2 years of relevant automation, controls, or instrument engineering experience.
- Knowledge of PLC programming and IEC 61131-3 languages; experience with Rockwell, Siemens, Beckhoff, or similar platforms is a plus.
- Programming experience with C#, Python, Java, or similar languages preferred.
- Understanding of electrical drawings, automated equipment, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Good English and Microsoft Office skills; ability to perform the physical requirements of the role.
The estimated base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $96,000. Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skills, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, we offer a total compensation package that includes a bonus plan and generous benefits.
