Our Consumer Goods Division is dedicated to helping brands, retailers and manufacturers worldwide deliver safe, quality and ethically made products to their consumers. Every day at work, our inspectors, auditors, and lab techs use their expertise to help safeguard the products you use every day in your home: from clothes and footwear to toys and baby products, to electronics, appliances, and furniture.

Our operations department’s purpose is to deliver our industry-leading services to our clients while ensuring that all the work we do is performed to the QIMA standard of quality

Objectives

This position is responsible for maintaining a high level of quality performance in the laboratory, and ensuring the testing equipment delivers the desired level of accuracy at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and publish local quality manual and quality system related documents to bring the laboratory’s quality systems and policies into compliance with quality system requirements, assure the quality management systems are implemented faithfully and effectively
  • Handle daily quality assurance related tasks including line audits, coordinate quality related activities with team leaders
  • Liaise with external parties (e.g. accreditation bodies, governmental departments etc.) and responsible for accreditation, recognition and related matters. Represent company to attend any external or corporate internal audits
  • Arrange annual internal audits and execute internal audit according to plan; conduct system audits, prepare audit report, review audit findings, issue CAR and prepare audit report
  • Investigate customer complaint case / proficiency test problematic result / lab errors discovered from audits and revision request, issue CAR and monitor the implementation of corrective / improvement actions, timely report to laboratory management and Asia QA Manager/ Leader, keep related records
  • Supervise equipment management, arrange external calibration, and support the review of external calibration results to ensure the testing equipment delivers the desired level of accuracy at all times
  • Prepare quality reports (weekly and monthly) and host monthly quality meeting with location Laboratory management
  • Arrange and host Management Review Meeting, collect input materials from all related parties, prepare management review report and submit Annual Work Report and Statistical Data according to requirements
  • Prepare ISO 17025 and quality management system trainings materials, arrange quality training (both classroom training and eLearning); monitor training status in the location (including basic training and annual training plan), generate training status reports of the laboratory regularly
  • Other quality related tasks such as proficiency testing arrangement, monitor document control system, monitor subcontractor and supplier evaluation, monitor process of laboratory equipment / consumables purchasing and equipment maintenance
  • Support Laboratory Management for Lab Safety or 5S implementation
  • Other ad hoc tasks assigned by Senior Manager - Quality and Governance, Asia Laboratories, Regional QA Manager / Leader, Asia Laboratories, and/or Lab Operations Managers
  • Prepare budget estimation in accreditation, external training, PT/ILC, and equipment calibration and expense recording

Education

  • Degree holder in a field related to chemistry, physics, mathematics, or engineering

Qualification

  • Internal auditor of management system

Training

Technical Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge of ISO 17025 quality management system
  • Knowledge of metrological traceability and equipment management
  • Knowledge of measurement uncertainty
  • Ability to operate measuring instruments and knowledge of uncertainty calculation would be an advantage

Skills

  • Good planning, organizational, monitoring, communication and leadership skills
  • Good trouble shooting skills
  • Good training skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Experience

  • > 5 years accredited laboratory working experience (e.g. have solid testing experience in Textile / Physical / Chemical testing) with 2 years experience of managing quality system as QA supervisor
  • Solid experience in handling local accreditation is a must, experience in handling “initial assessment” with accreditation bodies is an advantage
  • Experience is handling foreign accreditation is an advantage; those with less experience will be considered as QA Supervisor
  • Candidate who is accreditation bodies' approved signatories with less QA background will also be considered

  • Fluent in written and spoken English and local language.
