We are seeking a Manufacturing Manager in our Broomfield, CO, location.
The Manufacturing Manager will own the industrialization and manufacturing of ultra-high vacuum (UHV) subsystems for our quantum computing platforms. The Manager will lead a multidisciplinary group spanning manufacturing engineering, mechanical engineering, and physics. This position combines people leadership, technical direction, manufacturing strategy, and hands-on execution to transition complex ultra-high-vacuum (UHV) hardware from prototype development into safe, repeatable, scalable production.
All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, develop, and align a multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists and technicians, establishing clear accountability, priorities, operating rhythms, and effective interfaces across the organization
- Own the industrialization and manufacturing strategy for UHV subsystems, from early system builds through full manufacturing release, production ramp, and sustained production
- Set the manufacturing vision and roadmap for current and next-generation systems, including manufacturing readiness, capacity planning, process definition and control, and material strategies
- Define manufacturing facility requirements and collaborate with cross-functional partners to design and establish new manufacturing facilities.
- Partner early with upstream design teams to define product and manufacturing requirements and drive manufacturability, assembly, testability, reliability, serviceability, yield, cost, and scalability into system architecture
- Establish manufacturing readiness criteria, design and process validation strategies, technical handoffs, release gates, and lifecycle ownership for complex hardware systems
- Ensure robust production systems are developed and maintained, including process flows, work instructions, build travelers, drawings, inspection plans, test procedures, tooling, fixtures, training, and engineering change control
- Partner with the quality team to drive safe, predictable execution against quality, yield, throughput, cycle-time, cost, and reliability objectives using production data, structured problem solving, root-cause corrective action, and continuous improvement
- Provide hands-on technical leadership on the production floor, working with leads, engineers, physicists, and technicians to assemble, integrate, validate, troubleshoot, and deliver highly complex hardware
- Build effective partnerships with quality, supply chain, program management, operations, design engineering, and external suppliers to manage dependencies, resolve risks, and meet production commitments
- Establish and execute technical and programmatic plans, including milestones, staffing, resource allocation, capital planning, prioritization, schedule tracking, and risk and opportunity management
- Hire, coach and mentor a high-performing multidisciplinary team while owning performance management, succession planning, capability development, and a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Travel up to 15%
YOU MUST HAVE:
- Bachelor’s degree minimum
- Minimum 8+ years of experience in high-technology hardware development, product industrialization, or manufacturing engineering
