We're looking for an experienced AWS Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join our Cloud & Infrastructure Operations team, helping to design, operate and continually improve a large-scale AWS estate that supports critical business applications and services.

This is a hands-on infrastructure engineering role with AWS at its core. You'll work across cloud platforms, networking, automation, security and observability, ensuring our environments remain secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective.

You could be ideally suited if you're someone with a strong infrastructure background, who enjoys owning cloud platforms, solving complex technical challenges and driving continuous improvement across AWS environments.

This role is based alongside the team in Crewe, Cheshire with hybrid flexibility available (minimum 3 days per week in the office)

Please note: Unfortunately we are not able to offer visa sponsorship for this position. This includes being unable to offer longer-term visa support to applicants who hold a student or graduate visa.

What you'll be doing

  • Operating, maintaining and improving AWS infrastructure across compute, storage, database and serverless services.
  • Building and managing infrastructure using Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
  • Developing automation to simplify provisioning, configuration, patching, scaling and ongoing platform management.
  • Supporting cloud networking, including VPCs, routing, security groups, DNS and load balancing.
  • Supporting containerised environments using Kubernetes, Amazon EKS and Docker.
  • Developing monitoring, alerting and observability capabilities to improve reliability and performance.
  • Partnering with development, DevOps and cyber security teams to deliver resilient cloud services.
  • Supporting cloud security, vulnerability remediation, capacity planning and cost management activities.
  • Troubleshooting infrastructure incidents and contributing to problem, change and operational management processes.

What we're looking for

Essential

  • Educated to degree level with a minimum 2:2 (Lower Second Class Honours).
  • Hands-on experience administering AWS infrastructure, including services such as EC2, VPC, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, ECS, EKS and Lambda.
  • Experience using Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Scripting and automation experience using Python, Bash or similar technologies, alongside strong Linux administration skills.
  • Experience working with containers, preferably Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including IAM, least-privilege access, encryption and vulnerability management.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and availability issues, with knowledge of incident, change and problem management.

Desirable

  • Experience integrating Infrastructure as Code into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of cloud cost optimisation and FinOps practices.
  • Understanding of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles and practices.
  • Experience working within ITIL, ISO 27001 or Cyber Essentials Plus environments.
