Senior Back-End Engineer (Node.js & AWS)

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Back-End Engineer to join a fast-paced engineering team responsible for designing, building, and supporting scalable, production-grade backend applications in a modern cloud environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives on solving complex technical problems, building robust APIs, automating deployments, and working with AWS serverless technologies. You'll play a key role in shaping backend architecture, mentoring team members, and delivering secure, high-performing solutions that support business-critical systems.

• Design, develop, deploy, and support scalable backend applications.
• Build and maintain serverless solutions using Node.js and AWS.
• Develop and manage RESTful APIs and event-driven services.
• Work with AWS services including:
  • Lambda
  • API Gateway
  • DynamoDB
  • SQS/SNS
  • Kinesis
  • S3
  • CloudWatch
• Implement Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation and/or Terraform.
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
• Apply cloud security best practices and secure development principles.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimise production systems.
• Design and implement automated unit and end-to-end testing.
• Collaborate closely with product teams, customers, and technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to architecture decisions, code reviews, and engineering standards.
• Mentor and support fellow engineers within an Agile delivery environment.

• 5+ years of commercial backend development experience.
• Strong experience developing applications with Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Serverless technologies.
• Solid understanding of:
  • AWS Lambda
  • API Gateway
  • DynamoDB
  • SQS/SNS
  • CloudWatch
• Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
• Experience with Kubernetes and containerised workloads.
• Strong SQL and NoSQL database experience.
• Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks and quality engineering practices.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns and scalable architecture principles.
• Monitoring, observability, and log analytics experience.
• Agile/Scrum delivery experience.
