Mechanical Project Engineer

SUMMARY:
Our client is an engineering company in Pretoria that designs and builds specialised vehicles, trailers and marine platforms, including for the defence sector. They are looking for a hands-on Mechanical Project Engineer to take projects from concept and design through to production.

POSITION INFO:
What you'll do: Design and develop mechanical systems and sub-systems for vehicles, trailers and marine craft using SolidWorks Plan, schedule and deliver engineering projects, managing risk, budget and milestones Produce, review and control engineering drawings, design documentation and technical specifications Support prototype development, testing and handover to manufacturing and fabrication Work closely with production, suppliers and the multidisciplinary engineering team Minimum requirements: Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering At least 3 years' experience as a Mechanical Engineer in design, development and project execution Experience in design and production of vehicles, boats, trailers or similar mechanical platforms Proficiency in SolidWorks (or equivalent 3D CAD) and MS Office, including MS Project Experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment Working knowledge of project management (planning, scheduling, risk and budget control) Valid driver's licence and own vehicle Advantageous: Experience in the defence, marine, automotive or heavy engineering industries Experience with armoured vehicles, specialised trailers or marine craft design Experience with prototype development and testing programmes
