About the Team:
The engine manufacturing department's mission is to product high performing products & manufacturing systems by continuously innovating on cost, quality, and lead time. Through cross-functional collaboration, high levels of accountability, and a focus on safety we support the Terran R program. We are responsible for providing design feedback on new hardware iterations, developing new manufacturing methods and systems, and ultimately building engine and vehicle hardware for testing prior to our first launch. Our team's highlights from the last 6 months include the MDC of the first Aeon-R engine, completing thousands of hours of PBF printing, building and testing over 50 valves of 26 different iterations, and implementing large scale process improvements along the way.
This is a second-shift position with a standard schedule of Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. PT. The role is structured around a 50-hour workweek, including 10 guaranteed overtime hours each week. In addition to base pay, employees receive a 10% shift differential.
About the Role:
- Perform precision deburring, edge finishing, cleaning, and preparation of machined components.
- Use small rotary and hand tools to carefully remove burrs and imperfections without damaging critical surfaces or features.
- Inspect edges, bores, surfaces, and finishes for workmanship and conformity to requirements.
- Perform borescope and detailed visual inspections to identify defects, contamination, or other conditions requiring attention.
- Clean, handle, and protect precision hardware using defined processes.
About You:
- 2+ years of experience performing detailed, precision hand work in manufacturing, finishing, assembly, prototype work, or another environment requiring excellent hand control.
- Experience using small rotary tools such as pencil grinders, Dremel-style tools, polishing tools, files, or similar precision hand tools.
- Strong fine-motor skills and the ability to perform detailed work without damaging surrounding surfaces.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to visually identify small imperfections.
- Comfortable working with high-value components where workmanship and consistency are critical.
- Ability and willingness to learn engineering drawings, surface-finish requirements, inspection standards, and aerospace manufacturing processes.
Nice to haves, but not required:
- Manufacturing or machine-shop experience is preferred but not required. We are especially interested in candidates with strong precision hand skills who can be trained on aerospace-specific processes and requirements.
