About the Team:
The Interplanetary Sciences Program was establishedto expand access to scientific exploration across our solar system. Its mission is to make planetary research faster, more affordable, and more capable than ever before by rethinking how science missions are designed, built, and operated. The program aims to enable scientists to send instruments to distant worlds without decades of development or prohibitive costs. By creating a sustainable model for interplanetary exploration, we are transforming space science from an occasional event into a continuous process of discovery that accelerates knowledge, broadens participation, and inspires the next generation of explorers.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Procurement Operations Specialist to own the day-to-day execution of procurement activities supporting the program. You’ll work closely with Engineering, Program Management, Supply Chain, Legal, Finance, Quality, and external suppliers to keep hardware procurement moving efficiently from initial vendor setup and RFQ through purchase order execution, invoicing, and contract closeout.
This is a highly cross-functional role for someone who is exceptionally organized, comfortable managing many parallel workstreams, and motivated by helping engineering teams move quickly.
What You'll Do:
- Own vendor onboarding and supplier setup, ensuring required documentation and approvals are completed accurately and on time
- Coordinate RFQs, supplier quotes, purchase requests, and supporting procurement documentation
- Create, route, and track purchase orders, contracts, and related procurement agreements
- Drive contract execution, amendments, renewals, and closeout activities
- Coordinate cross-functional approvals across Engineering, Legal, Finance, Quality, and Procurement
- Maintain supplier records, documentation, compliance requirements, and purchasing information
- Track open procurement actions and proactively follow up with internal stakeholders and suppliers to prevent schedule delays
- Partner with Finance and suppliers to resolve invoice, payment, and purchase order discrepancies
- Maintain accurate procurement records, reporting, and status tracking
- Support procurement activities across multiple spacecraft, payload, and hardware development efforts
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes, documentation, and operational efficiency as the program scales
About You:
- 5+ Years of experience with procurement, purchasing, contracts, supply chain, vendor management, or a related operational function
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple suppliers, purchase orders, contracts, and priorities simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a track record of effective cross-functional coordination
- High level of ownership and follow-through; comfortable driving actions to completion across multiple stakeholders
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment where requirements and priorities may evolve quickly
- Comfortable working closely with technical teams and supporting complex hardware development programs

Hiring Range:
$91,200—$136,800 USD
