Relativity Space is an American launch company founded in 2015 that set out to manufacture rockets primarily through very large metal three-dimensional printing rather than conventional fabrication. After launching the small Terran 1 vehicle once in 2023, it cancelled that programme to concentrate entirely on Terran R, a larger partially reusable rocket aimed at the medium-lift commercial and government market. Headquartered in Long Beach, California with test facilities at Stennis Space Center, the company was recapitalised in 2025 under new leadership from Google's former chief executive Eric Schmidt.

At Relativity Space, we’re building rockets to serve today’s needs and tomorrow’s breakthroughs. Our Terran R vehicle will deliver customer payloads to orbit, meeting the growing demand for launch capacity. But that’s just the start. Achieving commercial success with Terran R will unlock new opportunities to advance science, exploration, and innovation, pioneering progress that reaches beyond the known.

Joining Relativity means becoming part of something where autonomy, ownership, and impact exist at every level. Here, you're not just executing tasks; you're solving problems that haven’t been solved before, helping develop a rocket, a factory, and a business from the ground up. Whether you’re in propulsion, manufacturing, software, avionics, or a corporate function, you’ll collaborate across teams, shape decisions, and see your work come to life in record time. Relativity is a place where creativity and technical rigor go hand in hand, and your voice will help define the stories we’re writing together. Now is a unique moment in time where it’s early enough to leave your mark on the product, the process, and the culture, but far enough along that Terran R is tangible and picking up momentum. The most meaningful work of your career is waiting. Join us.

About the Team:

The Launch team operates at the intersection of every major aspect of Terran R, from stages and payloads to ground systems, launch, landing, and refurbishment. The Cape is the only place where you see it all come together, offering a level of exposure and responsibility unmatched elsewhere in the program. This is where first flights happen, where history is built on top of history, and where the scale of what's underway is unlike anything in modern aerospace. The mission stays the same, but the work evolves with every milestone: from first launch to reuse, high-cadence operations, and beyond. If you're looking to define what's next in space launch and write a new playbook, not just repeat what’s already been done, this is where it happens.

About the Role:

As a Welder on the Launch Team, you will fabricate, fit, and weld piping systems that support the Terran R launch site, including process piping, utility systems, and ground support infrastructure. This role works with engineering, fabrication, construction, and operations teams to install piping systems safely, accurately, and in accordance with applicable drawings, procedures, and specifications.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, piping isometrics, fabrication prints, weld procedures, and specifications to support fit-up, fabrication, and installation work.
  • Fit, fabricate, and weld piping systems and mechanical assemblies using welding processes such as TIG, MIG, FCAW, and stick welding.
  • Perform pipe welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other applicable alloys in shop and field environments.
  • Prepare, align, and install piping systems to meet fit-up, weld quality, and project specification requirements.
  • Operate fabrication equipment and hand tools, including grinders, beveling tools, saws, pipe preparation equipment, and cutting tools.
  • Support system installation, testing, and field integration activities in coordination with mechanical, construction, and engineering teams.
  • Collaborate with management and engineering teams to improve safe, efficient, and repeatable fabrication, welding, and installation processes.
  • Follow safety, quality, and workmanship standards while supporting project schedules and launch site operational needs.
  • Perform launch site, fabrication, and welding-related tasks as assigned.

About You:

  • 5+ years of professional welding and fabrication experience, including experience with pipe welding and industrial systems.
  • Experience using multiple welding processes, such as TIG, MIG, FCAW, and stick welding.
  • Experience reading and interpreting isometric drawings, blueprints, weld procedures, and welding symbols.
  • Experience fitting, fabricating, and installing piping systems or mechanical assemblies to meet applicable drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
  • Experience using fabrication tools and shop equipment, such as grinders, drills, saws, and pipe preparation tools.
  • Experience operating equipment such as forklifts, reach lifts, man lifts, or similar equipment.
  • Ability to perform welding and fabrication work in an active construction or industrial environment, which may include lifting up to 40 pounds and using required personal protective equipment.

Nice to haves but not required:

  • AWS, ASME, or equivalent welding certification.
  • Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, specialty alloys, or similar materials.
  • Experience working in aerospace, power generation, shipbuilding, petrochemical, heavy industrial, or similar environments.
  • Experience supporting field construction, commissioning, launch site operations, or other safety-critical installation environments.
