About the Team: 

The Reliability team at Relativity Space ensures quality is built into every stage of the Terran R design and production process, embedding reliability from the very beginning. The team works directly with design, manufacturing, test, and launch teams to stay close to the hardware, understand constraints, and proactively shape decisions. As the program moves from development into production and scaled operations, this is the time to establish the right processes, controls, and inspections without slowing progress. The team plays a key role in balancing risk, fostering a culture of ownership, and making sure speed never comes at the cost of reliability. Success means creating a quality system that scales with the Terran R program and Relativity as a whole. 

About the Role:

• Manage all internal and external calibrations of electrical, mechanical, optical, and RF measurement equipment, and oversee calibration of precision test equipment using NIST-traceable standards
• Drive multidisciplinary teams including metrology technicians, quality engineers, and operations personnel
• Define the long-term calibration strategy and roadmap, including evaluation of bringing calibration capabilities in-house
• Ensure vendors maintain compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, AS9100, and NASA requirements
• Provide expert technical guidance on metrology and calibration, ensuring integrity and accuracy of measurement data used for critical decision-making
• Review calibration certificates and technical documentation, and maintain equipment tracking systems and calibration databases (e.g., Indysoft) 

About You:

• 3-5+ years of progressive experience in metrology and calibration, with at least 1-2+ years in a program or project management role, preferably within aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing
• Deep technical knowledge of calibration methods for electrical, mechanical, optical, and RF/microwave measurement equipment, dimensional metrology, and measurement uncertainty analysis and traceability principles
• Strong understanding of metrology standards including ISO/IEC 17025, ANSI/NCSL Z540.3, AS9100, and NIST traceability requirements
• Proficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure/temperature gauges, dimensional tools, and calibration databases. Working with hardware/instrumentation exposed to process gases/fluids. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical information to expert and non-expert audiences
• Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills 

Nice to haves but not required:   

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Metrology, or a closely related technical field (or equivalent experience with 7+ years in metrology/calibration)
• Experience establishing and scaling calibration programs from the ground up
• Self-starter with demonstrated ability to define and own processes and roll them out through effective communication to diverse teams
• Familiarity with blueprint and schematic interpretation
• ASQ Certified Calibration Technician (CCT) or equivalent certification
• Strong knowledge of enterprise applications (PLM, ERP, MES) and proficiency in data analysis tools

Hiring Range:

$99,500—$149,000 USD
