Renesas Electronics is a Japanese semiconductor company formed in 2003 when Hitachi and Mitsubishi Electric combined their chip divisions, later absorbing NEC Electronics as well. It is one of the largest suppliers of microcontrollers in the world and holds a particularly strong position in automotive silicon, where its R-Car processors and body and powertrain controllers sit inside a large share of vehicles built globally. It has spent the past decade buying into analog and connectivity through Intersil, IDT, Dialog and Altium, broadening from bare microcontrollers into complete embedded systems for industrial and internet of things customers.

The Post-Silicon Validation team within the Performance Computing Power Division is building a world-class organization of highly skilled engineers across multiple global sites. Our mission is to push the boundaries of silicon validation for industry-leading integrated circuits enabling high-power, high-efficiency power management systems.

We are committed to delivering the highest level of validation quality by continuously improving test coverage, measurement accuracy, repeatability, automation, and execution efficiency while reducing overall validation time.

As a Senior Validation Engineer, you will be part of a multidisciplinary global development team and play a key role in ensuring that every new product fully meets its electrical, functional, and performance specifications before release to production. You will work closely with Design, Applications, Product Engineering, Quality, and System teams to identify, debug, and resolve silicon and system-level issues while supporting aggressive product development and New Product Introduction (NPI) schedules.

For our new Design Center in Catania, we are looking for a passionate engineer who thrive on innovation, enjoy solving complex technical challenges, and is committed to delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Validate analog, digital, mixed-signal, and power management ICs against electrical, functional, and performance specifications.
  • Define validation methodologies, develop comprehensive validation plans, and ensure complete feature coverage.
  • Design, develop, and optimize advanced laboratory test setups for complex silicon evaluation.
  • Design custom evaluation boards and supporting hardware for silicon characterization.
  • Develop automated validation frameworks and measurement scripts using Python.
  • Perform data acquisition, statistical analysis, result correlation, and preparation of detailed technical reports.
  • Evaluate silicon performance at device, board, and system level, identifying, documenting, and tracking silicon and application issues.
  • Generate validation reports, silicon evaluation summaries, and regular project status updates while meeting validation milestones.
  • Proactively track assigned activities, identify execution risks, and drive timely issue resolution.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Applications, Firmware, Product Engineering, and Quality teams to investigate and resolve silicon and system-level bugs.
  • Drive continuous improvement of validation methodologies, laboratory automation, and overall silicon evaluation efficiency.
  • Contribute innovative ideas that enhance validation quality, automation, productivity, and time-to-market.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience in bench validation and debugging of mixed-signal or power management ICs.
  • Strong laboratory skills and hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, source meters, digital multimeters, waveform generators, logic analyzers, and thermal equipment.
  • Proficiency with Python programming with particular use for lab automation hardware environments
  • Good knowledge of power management applications in consumer electronic
  • Board level analog and digital circuit design expertise for PCB schematic creation
  • Strong analytical and debugging skills with a systematic approach to problem solving.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage priorities while delivering high-quality results under demanding project schedules.
  • Goals-oriented and able to deliver on-time results under tight schedules
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively within international cross-functional teams.
