Revel Consulting is a Seattle-based digital consultancy (now part of the Infogain ecosystem) that specializes in business transformation, customer experience strategy, and technology enablement. Founded in 2006, the firm integrates strategy, design, and technical expertise to help organizations accelerate growth and modernize their digital ecosystems. Through deep domain expertise in areas such as journey mapping, cloud computing, operational process engineering, and organizational change management, the firm assists enterprises in navigating complex digital landscapes to deliver high-value, human-centered outcomes.

About Revel

At Revel, we are revolutionizing the way the world’s most critical hardware is controlled-across aerospace, automotive, energy, and manufacturing sectors. Our next-generation software stack combines an intuitive command/control interface, a specialized programming language tailored for hardware control, and a high-performance runtime environment. We empower engineers to build, test, and deploy critical systems rapidly, reliably, and safely.

The Internship

As an Embedded Software Engineering Intern at Revel, you’ll work on the software that connects our high-performance runtime to the physical world.

You’ll work closely with experienced software and embedded engineers to develop systems software, integrate with hardware, and build the foundations that allow Revel to reliably control complex industrial machinery. You’ll gain hands-on experience working across the boundary between software and hardware-from communication protocols and hardware interfaces to Linux systems and low-level debugging.

This is a highly technical internship for students who want to understand what happens below the application layer and build software where performance, reliability, and correctness matter.

You’ll contribute to real engineering projects, learn from senior engineers, and develop experience with the systems programming and hardware integration challenges behind critical software.

What You'll Do

  • Write and contribute to Rust code targeting Linux userspace

  • Support the integration of industrial hardware and learn to work with register maps and hardware communication protocols

  • Contribute to Hardware Abstraction Layers (HALs) that allow Revel software to interface with physical hardware

  • Develop software that communicates with sensors, actuators, controllers, and other hardware

  • Learn and use hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers and oscilloscopes

  • Write tests and contribute to improving the reliability and quality of low-level software

  • Participate in code reviews and collaborate with experienced software and embedded engineers

  • Debug issues across software, operating systems, communication interfaces, and hardware

  • Build an understanding of how reliability and correctness become critical requirements in real-world systems

What We're Looking For

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field

  • Rising Junior or Senior graduating in 2027 or 2028

  • Strong programming fundamentals and experience with C, C++, Rust, or another systems-oriented language

  • Foundational understanding of operating systems, computer architecture, or Linux

  • Interest in understanding how software interacts with hardware at a low level

  • Strong analytical and debugging skills

  • Hands-on experience through coursework, personal projects, research, or previous internships

  • Curious, self-directed, and excited to learn from experienced engineers

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, technically challenging environment

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • US citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee (ITAR requirement)

Bonus Points

  • Coursework or personal projects involving embedded systems, microcontrollers, or firmware

  • Experience with Rust, particularly through personal or academic projects

  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, or CAN

  • Experience working with Linux internals, operating systems, or low-level networking

  • Experience with hardware debugging tools such as logic analyzers or oscilloscopes

  • Experience working with sensors, actuators, development boards, or other physical hardware

  • Interest in real-time, safety-critical, or high-reliability systems

  • Experience building projects that bridge software and hardware

  • Experience with robotics, aerospace, automotive, industrial automation, or other hardware-focused applications

Why Revel

  • Work on software that controls real hardware - build systems that interact directly with the physical world

  • Go deep technically - work at the intersection of systems programming, hardware, and software

  • Learn from exceptional engineers - work closely with engineers who have built critical software systems

  • Build real things - contribute to production software rather than purely academic or experimental projects

  • Take on meaningful problems - work on technology used by customers across aerospace, automotive, energy, and advanced manufacturing

  • Grow quickly - work in a small, ambitious team where your contributions are visible and your learning curve is steep

Internship Details

  • Program: Summer 2027 Internship

  • Duration: June - August 2027

  • Type: Summer, paid internship

  • Location: Los Angeles or San Francisco

  • Work environment: On-site

  • Travel: Occasional travel to customer sites may be required

Join us to redefine what’s possible in software for hardware.
