The role :
- We're hiring a Scrum Master who will own day-to-day sprint delivery for a development team building products with us, working directly with client business owners and product owners. From week one, you run the board, run the ceremonies, and are the person the Engineering Manager and CEO rely on to keep delivery on track.
- Because we're a lean, boutique team, the role also covers writing BRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria in Confluence, and functional testing of what ships each sprint - all in service of running a tight sprint, not as a separate analyst function.
- You'll work daily with our embedded development team, and 1-2x per week directly with business owners and product owners on the client side - so this role needs someone who's genuinely comfortable running conversations with senior stakeholders, not just writing tickets.
What you'll own :
Sprint & Scrum Management (80%) :
- Run the Jira board day to day : sprint planning, backlog grooming, story points, task assignment, and status tracking.
- Facilitate ceremonies - daily standups, sprint planning, retros, backlog refinement - as the owner/facilitator, not a participant.
- Author and maintain BRDs and TRDs in Confluence, and write user stories and acceptance criteria engineers can build against without back-and-forth.
- Keep the backlog sprint-ready - no vague tickets.
- Prepare sprint reports at the close of each sprint : velocity, burndown, blockers, delivery outcomes.
- Be the primary point of contact with client business owners/POs for sprint status and planning conversations.
Functional Testing (20%) :
- Write and execute functional test cases for each sprint increment.
- Log defects in Jira and verify fixes before sign-off.
- Cross-browser/device testing exposure (BrowserStack or similar) is a strong plus.
What we need :
- 2+ years specifically running Scrum as a Scrum Master or Agile delivery lead - you have personally facilitated ceremonies and owned a Jira board, not just attended standups as a BA or PM. (5+ years total professional experience expected, but the Scrum-ownership years are what we're screening for.)
- A confident, articulate English communicator who can run a call with a client's business owner or product owner without a script - this documentation and these calls go straight to the CEO.
- Clear, structured communication across channels - calls, email, Slack, written status updates - with the judgment to know what needs a call versus a two-line message.
- Hands-on experience writing BRDs, user stories, and acceptance criteria in a real software delivery environment.
- Some functional testing experience - writing test cases, logging and tracking defects.
- Comfortable owning your calendar and output in a fully remote, async-friendly setup.
Nice to have :
- CSM or PSM certification.
- Prior testing or development background in Java, JavaScript, or Python - you won't need to write code here, but it helps you ask sharper questions and write acceptance criteria engineers don't have to reinterpret.
- SQL / data querying familiarity.
- Experience in AI, analytics, or enterprise SaaS product environments.
