Senior Director, Privacy, Product and Platform Security

Roblox is looking for a Senior Director, Privacy, Product and Platform Security to lead the teams responsible for protecting the systems, products, services, and data that power the Roblox platform. This is an opportunity to define how security and privacy are engineered into one of the world’s largest and most ambitious platforms. You will work on problems that span product design, distributed systems, infrastructure, data, privacy, and emerging technology-helping protect the data and systems relied on by tens of millions of users and creators.

You will bring Product Security, Platform Security, and Privacy Engineering together around a unified vision to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of Roblox’s products, infrastructure, and data systems. The role will partner closely with Engineering, Infrastructure, Product, Legal, Privacy, Compliance, and other business leaders to make security and privacy durable properties of how Roblox designs, builds, deploys, and operates.

Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, you will oversee a high-impact organization of security engineering leaders and senior individual contributors. You will operate as a peer to Infrastructure and Engineering leadership, translating complex technical and regulatory challenges into clear priorities, measurable outcomes, and well-executed engineering solutions.

You Will

• Set the vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap for Product Security, Platform Security, and Privacy Engineering.
• Lead and grow a high-performing organization of managers and senior technical leaders, while building a culture of accountability, inclusion, and technical excellence.
• Establish security and privacy architecture principles for Roblox products, services, production platforms, cloud environments, and data systems.
• Raise the security bar across the software development lifecycle through security reviews, threat modeling, secure design, testing, vulnerability management, and risk-based remediation.
• Drive the design and adoption of hardened, secure platforms at Roblox scale, partnering with Infrastructure Engineering on foundational security controls.
• Advance Privacy Engineering by embedding privacy-by-design practices and scalable technical controls into product and platform architecture, data flows, and operating processes.
• Translate regulatory and company privacy commitments into clear engineering requirements, measurable controls, and durable solutions.
• Own cross-functional priorities, metrics, executive reporting, and delivery for product security, platform security, privacy engineering, and related risk-reduction programs.

You Have

• 15+ years of experience in security engineering, privacy engineering, infrastructure security, or a related technical field, including 8+ years leading and developing engineering or security organizations.
• Deep technical expertise in at least one security or engineering discipline, with the breadth and judgment to lead across product, platform, infrastructure, cloud, data, and privacy domains.
• A track record of setting strategy and delivering measurable security outcomes across large-scale products, platforms, or distributed systems.
• Experience embedding security and privacy into the software development lifecycle through architecture, standards, tooling, automation, and risk-based prioritization.
• Strong systems thinking and technical judgment across modern production environments, including cloud, hybrid, distributed, containerized, and data-intensive systems.
• A people-centered, results-oriented leadership style, with the ability to build high-performing teams, lead complex cross-functional initiatives, influence senior stakeholders, and communicate technical risk and tradeoffs clearly.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits as described on this page.

Annual Salary Range

$457,970—$525,510 USD

Roles that are based in an office are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
