The Senior Lead Engineer defines tasks for others and drives medium to large-scale initiatives across a product or product line. In this strategic role, you will coach and lead other engineers, excel in stakeholder negotiations, and provide direction for mid to long-term goals. You will actively contribute to technical knowledge through publications, inspire innovation, and lead the design of complex multi-service solutions. With expertise in advanced cloud features and Kubernetes, you will promote architectural consistency, drive technical strategy for major components, and mentor senior engineers to ensure the highest standards of engineering quality across the organization.

Description of the area

Job Responsibilities

• Design and maintain end-to-end data solutions using AWS ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.

• Develop scalable and efficient data models, pipelines, and workflows within the AWS environment.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements and solutions.

• As needed, collaborate with other team members and external contractors to enhance technical solutions. Coordinate their work, provide guidance, and ensure alignment with project goals.

• Data Integration:

  • Implement data integration solutions to ingest, transform, and manage large datasets from various sources into AWS and Snowflake.

  • Ensure data quality, consistency, and security throughout the data life cycle.

  • Develop documentation related to data management processes, procedures, and data dictionaries.

• Scope / Accountability/Problem Solving: Defines tasks for others and successfully drives medium to large (M/L) initiatives across a Product or Product Line. Challenges others in a growth-enabling way, effectively leverages team strengths, and acts as a coach and lead for other engineers.

• Stakeholder Management: Demonstrates a strong grasp of stakeholder ecosystems and their needs, excelling in negotiations and partnerships for mutual benefits. Provides clear direction to mid- to long-term goals and objectives.

• Impact/Strategy: Provides global-level support for innovative and technological initiatives. Actively gives speeches and shares knowledge at global and international events, and drives tech universities, Centers of Excellence (CoEs), and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Engaged in Chapter/Site related activities.

• Complexity / (Product Size): Operates at the Product, Product Line, Domain, or Site level, making a direct impact on the growth and engagement of other chapter members.

• Business / Technical ability: Actively contributes to the advancement of technical knowledge within the field through publications, presentations, and mentorship (e.g., playing the role of capability owner/hero). Inspires innovation, drives innovative solutions in line with emerging technology trends, and engages in building new approaches to existing problems.

Qualifications

Education / Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

• Demonstrated experience leading complex AWS/cloud-native solutions and mentoring senior engineers.

• Proven track record of contributing to the technical strategy for major components/services and participating in global knowledge-sharing events.

Technical Skills

• Strong experience as a Lead Engineer, Tech Lead, Cloud Architect, or similar senior engineering role.

• Deep understanding of the AWS Well-Architected Framework, with hands-on experience designing for High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and multi-region active-active deployments.

• Hands-on expertise with AWS, including services such as EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS/DynamoDB, IAM, AWS Glue, AWS Step Functions and CloudWatch.

• Strong experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm.

• Proficiency in one or more languages such as Pythonor TypeScript/JavaScript.

• Strong experience designing REST APIs, GraphQL, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.

• Experience with data modeling and databasedesign across SQL and NoSQLdatabases, including technologies such as PostgreSQL, RDS, DynamoDB and Snowflake.

• Experience with vector databases, embeddings, semantic search, and RAG architectures for AI-enabled applications.

• Familiarity with agentic AI frameworks and platforms such as Amazon Bedrock, LangChain, LangGraph, or equivalent technologies.

• Experience with Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation for Infrastructure as Code and GitHub Actions or equivalent for CI/CD.

• Experience with observability technologies such as CloudWatch, Grafana, Datadog, and LangSmith.

• Strong understanding of cloud security, IAM, secrets management, threat modeling, automated testing, and DevSecOps practices.

• Advanced AWS Networking expertise, including complex VPC design, Transit Gateway, Route 53, CloudFront, and Application/Network Load Balancers (ALB/NLB).

• Proven ability to mentor senior engineers, lead technical design reviews, and communicate complex technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Experience with Cloud FinOps, proactively monitoring cloud spend, optimizing compute/storage resources, and managing costs associated with LLM API usage and scalable infrastructure.

• Hands-on experience with asynchronous messaging and streaming platforms, including Amazon SQS, SNS, EventBridge, Kinesis, or Apache Kafka to power highly decoupled systems.

• Exceptional leadership and mentorship skills, specifically in mentoring senior engineers and promoting code quality and architectural consistency through critical design reviews.

• Strong communication and negotiation skills, capable of effectively communicating complex technical information and building mutually beneficial partnerships across stakeholder ecosystems.
