Job Summary
The Billing Associate II proactively processes all billing transactions in coordination with their assigned primary billers utilizing the most effective and efficient procedures and systems to facilitate the timely billing for services delivered by the firm in accordance with Firm policies.
This position (a) assists external client servers in resolving billing issues
(b) executes billing, contracts set up, and
(c) other assigned tasks for allocated book-of-business
Essential Duties
Professional billing duties-
- Independently own a standard book-of-business
- Initiate and complete standard billing tasks in accordance with all professional billing expectations for assigned primary billers
- Review aged WIP for assigned primary billers to control outstanding WIP balances, and identify billing opportunities applying professional judgment when evaluating non-standard billing scenarios and recommends solutions balancing client, engagement, and firm requirements
- Hold external client servers accountable to bill timely. Escalating to regional billing lead, supervisor, manager, director or national billing leader, if needed.
- This includes reviewing and recommending suggested billing amounts based on agreed upon billing arrangements, schedules, statement of work, engagement letters or historical amounts.
- Well-versed in various types of revenue recognition and billing practices within the firm
Reporting & Analysis duties may include but are not limited to:
- Understand project/customer net-unbilled concepts in order to make billing recommendations.
- Understand realization and reserve concepts and impact. Be able to facilitate recommendations that promote the firm’s best practices.
- Leverage the firms standardized reporting to assist primary billers in analysis and engagement management.
- Independently investigates billing issues and processes invoice adjustments to ensure invoice accuracy.
- Identifies operational risks proactively
- Produce operational reports independently, identify trends or exceptions, and translate findings into action.
- Maintain operational diligence meeting ongoing operational standards (e.g., KPIs, reworks, quality control etc.)
Minimum Qualifications & Education
- BCOM/BBA Associate's degree with an accounting focus or equivalent experience - Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience - Required
- Accounting or Finance major - Required
TECHNICAL/SOFT SKILLS
- Proficient in Microsoft Office - Required Ability to learn, implement and train others - Required
- Ability to work in a large, complex, dynamic organization where a high degree of ambiguity and change exists - Required
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees including senior leadership - Required
- Ability to work autonomously and as a team leader - Required
- Strong problem solving and analysis skills - Required
- Strong organization, prioritization and time management skills - Required
- Exposure to problem solving using AI tools, and ability to query current working models - Required
- Strong communication skills: Able to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the firm - Required
EXPERIENCE
3-4 years relevant experience - Required
- Prior professional billing experience - Required
- Professional services experience - Preferred

- Demonstrated success in engaging stakeholders, building collaborative relationships while managing conflicting priorities - Required
- Strong organization, deadline management, data stewardship, and control discipline - Required
