Temporary Supervisor - Analytics Engineer (Regulatory Reporting & Risk Data)

Position Overview

RSM is seeking a Temporary Supervisor - Analytics Engineer to support large-scale Risk Consulting engagements within the Financial Services and Global Banking sectors. This role is ideal for a hands-on data engineering professional with experience building data acquisition, regulatory reporting, and analytics solutions in highly regulated environments.

Working alongside senior analytics and technology leaders, you will help design and build foundational data structures that support regulatory reporting, risk analytics, reconciliation, and executive reporting. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, a passion for solving complex data challenges, and experience working within banking, risk, compliance, or regulatory reporting environments.

What You'll Do

  • Build and maintain data acquisition, ingestion, and staging processes for large-scale regulatory reporting and analytics programs.
  • Develop and support an immutable historical data repository that enables accurate recreation of prior reporting periods and regulatory submissions.
  • Design and enhance canonical data models, reference data structures, and business classification frameworks.
  • Build and maintain exception management repositories to support issue tracking, remediation, and regulatory reporting transparency.
  • Implement data quality controls, validation routines, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Perform complex data analysis, root cause investigations, and issue remediation across multiple source systems.
  • Design and maintain data lineage documentation and control evidence to support audit and regulatory reviews.
  • Collaborate with business, risk, compliance, audit, and technology stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Support system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), implementation activities, and production support.
  • Partner with reporting and visualization teams to develop datasets supporting Power BI and management reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, or a related discipline.
  • Advanced SQL skills, including complex transformations, reconciliations, optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Experience designing and developing ETL/ELT solutions across multiple source systems.
  • Experience with dimensional data modeling, canonical data models, and historical snapshot architectures.
  • Experience working within Financial Services, Banking, Risk Management, Regulatory Reporting, Compliance, or Audit environments.
  • Strong understanding of data quality controls, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data issues and develop sustainable technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting BCBS 239, enterprise risk programs, risk data aggregation, or regulatory reporting initiatives.
  • Experience building historical, immutable, or append-only data repositories.
  • Familiarity with data lineage, metadata management, and governance platforms such as Collibra.
  • Experience supporting Power BI reporting and analytics solutions.
  • Experience with cloud and modern data platforms including Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Synapse, Fabric, Informatica, Talend, Alteryx, or Teradata.

Technology Environment

Candidates may come from a variety of technical backgrounds. Experience with modern data and analytics platforms is valued; however, strong fundamentals in SQL, data modeling, reconciliation, and regulated data environments are the most critical qualifications.
