 Senior Application Architect to support design and implementation of applications for a business teams within a pipeline company

Contract: 6 months to start - strong possibility of extension

Hybrid: 2 days in downtown Calgary office

Must-Haves

• Solution Design and Architecture – Experience translating business requirements into logical and technical solution designs for business applications.
• Hands-On Application Implementation – Experience working with developers, application specialists and vendors to implement solutions, resolve design issues and support delivery through deployment.
• Application Integration and Data Flows – Experience designing integrations between enterprise applications, including data flows and cross-system dependencies.
• Technical Design and Documentation– Experience producing solution diagrams and technical documentation that guide development and implementation.

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience in pipeline, energy, utilities, infrastructure, construction or major capital project environments.
• Experience with applications supporting land and right-of-way management, permitting, regulatory approvals, property or construction management.
• Experience working with Enterprise Architecture and business stakeholders to assess solution options and align designs with enterprise architecture direction.
• Architecture training or certifications such as TOGAF, cloud architecture or enterprise application certifications.

About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Solution Architect to support the business teams responsible for pipeline expansion and new pipeline construction. The role focuses on designing and implementing technology solutions for business functions such as land and right-of-way management, permitting, regulatory approvals and construction.

Working with business stakeholders, Enterprise Architecture, Business Analysts, application specialists and delivery teams, you will translate business needs into practical solution designs. You will assess existing applications and options, develop logical and technical designs, and work with delivery teams and vendors through implementation.

The role requires someone who can connect business requirements with application and technical considerations, understand how systems and data need to work together, and produce clear designs that can be put into practice.

What you will do:

• Work with business stakeholders and Business Analysts to understand business requirements and capability gaps.
• Assess existing applications and solution options with application specialists, prioritizing existing systems where they can meet business needs.
• Develop logical and technical solution designs, including application interactions, integrations, data flows and dependencies.
• Create clear solution diagrams and technical documentation to guide delivery teams and vendors.
• Work with application specialists, developers and vendors through implementation to clarify designs and resolve technical issues.
• Identify risks, dependencies and impacts across applications, data and business functions.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to ensure solution designs align with established architecture direction and standards.
