Software Engineer Java SpringBoot Microservices - Cloud Native Applications (GCP)

The Revenue Optimization Team is expanding as we modernize our platforms and build next-generation cloud-native applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). We are seeking a Software Engineer who brings strong hands-on development skills, solid design experience, and a passion for building reliable, scalable systems.

This role is ideal for an engineer who can own features end-to-end, contribute to system design, and work closely with Lead and Principal Engineers to deliver high-impact solutions.

Responsibilities

Software Development & Design

• Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native application components and services.
• Build and enhance microservices-based architectures using modern development practices.
• Translate business and product requirements into well-designed technical solutions.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following engineering best practices.
• Participate in design discussions and technical reviews.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

• Develop and operate applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Work with containers and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (GKE).
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and deployment processes.
• Ensure applications are designed for scalability, performance, reliability, and security.

AI & Modern Engineering Practices

• Experience using AI Agents for software development to assist with coding, debugging, testing, refactoring, documentation, and development productivity.
• Awareness of AI-enabled SDLC practices and how AI can support various stages of the Software Development Life Cycle.

Quality, Performance & Operations

• Identify and fix performance bottlenecks and reliability issues.
• Participate in troubleshooting production issues and root cause analysis.
• Contribute to improving observability through logging, monitoring, and alerting.
• Help reduce technical debt through continuous refactoring and improvement.

Collaboration & Growth

• Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Quality Engineers, and Platform teams.
• Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Actively participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Continuously learn new technologies and contribute innovative ideas.

Required Skills

Experience

• 3-4 years of professional experience building enterprise-grade software applications.

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience developing applications using Java
• Solid experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modeling and query optimization.
• Good understanding of cloud-native application design principles.

Cloud & DevOps

• Experience working on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or other major public cloud.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and containerized workloads.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, and automated testing.
• Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools.

Soft Skills

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to collaborate in a global team.
• Ability to take ownership of features and deliver with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving technical challenges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (required).
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field (preferred).
• Proven experience operating mission-critical, high-availability systems in cloud or hybrid environments.
