We are looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to join our team!
This is a hybrid position with minimum 3 days in office.

Part of Safran Electronics & Defense, our Trusted 4D Inc. site is the world leader in Resilient Positioning, Navigation and Timing (R-PNT) technology that’s used in almost every device, vehicle, utility grid, and cell phone tower that we see today. Locally, we manufacture precise synchronization clocks for data centers called time servers, as well as GNSS simulators to help test PNT equipment before it launches - such as rockets or sports watches. Our site is located in West Henrietta, New York, with an on-site manufacturing facility and teams in engineering, R&D, sales and marketing, and more.

The Position:
We are hiring a talented software developer to join our product development team. This team is responsible for building and enhancing our flagship timing products, shaping the future of precise timing solutions. As part of our team, you will collaborate with other skilled developers to create innovative new features and improve product performance. Your contributions will directly impact the product’s success and the satisfaction of our customers.
You will be based out of our office in West Henrietta, NY, but our team is international with significant presence in France and Spain, and some of your closest team members will be international. We strongly prefer someone who can have a regular presence in the office, but we have a hybrid work policy and support for flexible working hours.
Since this is a mid-level position, we would like someone who has some experience with software development, ideally for embedded products. Proficiency working in Linux is a key technical skill. Above all, we are seeking someone who can work with others to develop creative and innovative solutions. We would love to hear about what you have worked on, how it was built, and why it was a success.
What you will be doing:
You’ll be developing embedded software for our flagship timeserver products. This includes:
- Designing and implementing new features.
- Troubleshooting defects, identifying root cause, and proposing corrections.
- Collaborating with product management to address customer requirements.
- Working with the guidance of senior developers and team leaders.
- Participating in peer code review.
- Working with the latest in Resilient PNT technology.
What we’re looking for:
- Proficiency in a few programming and scripting languages (C, python, and bash are ideal).
- Proficiency working in a Linux environment.
- Proficiency with revision control systems (ideally git).
- Ability to work with an international team using Agile methods.
- 2-5 years of experience in software development.
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
The exceptional candidate will have some of these additional qualifications:
- Experience with Linux system administration.
- Experience working with embedded systems.
- Experience with network timing protocols (NTP, PTP).
